Interests

It really bothers me that I have to choose an interest before starting a discussion. Sometimes I just don't know where the topic should fit in! I have an expanding 551 interests listed. Going through them causes me anxiety. And most times I lose what I really wanted to say, or wording that I wanted to use. I guess I will have to start using a word processor to type up my topic before considering it here!

You have 551 interests? Wow..Sometimes if I don't know where to put something, I put it in the interest, "life" And if you have interests that you don't use, delete them. I don't have as many interests as you, but I am considering deleting some because no one has that interest. Like I have some musical groups as an interest, but like one only has three discussions in it since I started. So instead, whenever I have a discussion on a band, I go to, "listening to music" instead of the band itself.. If you take time, you can probably get rid of many of those interests and save your sanity..lol

I'm seriously considering deleting a lot of them... especially the musical groups too. No one posts about them anyways! lol I add more interest everyday. Last night at the hockey game, all I could think of was I didn't have that down as an interest here LOL so I fixed that first thing this morning! Addicted or what?

Yes, but I have an idea, instead of an interest for hockey, why not make it into an interest for sports? That way, in case you have another sport that interests you, you don't have to have 2 different interests, but one..

Ok that's good but what if someone starts a discussion under hockey? then I'll miss out on it!

Same here! It's so difficult to place a topic sometimes and I am always in a fix. I just put it into the first interest that comes to mind and then let my friends handle it from there..lol

What I find frustrating on top of it all is deciding the interest and then realizing you don't have that under your list so you must go add it, then come back and start all over again LOL

I don't focus much on it, if ever I'd just put my post or discussion under the most closest interest my topic would be. It makes me feel nauseated when I try to search and look for over hundreds of interests I have, so I just try to search for other interest that comes close to it. As you know, I don't start much of my own discussions. I only put one in-case I have a good idea to share with, or that I know I can pull off something that may interest others. When I get loss for words, I just stop for a while and relax my mind so I can find the woords that I mostly prefer to use.

Sometimes I got confused too, in which interest should I starated a discussion, but most of the time I just put it under people or life. Easier and save my time..

haha.that's terrible when you forget what you really want to say,the thoughs just fly away and hard to find back.with the interests,it's easy to manage all the disscussions, but sometimes it dont fit very well and too many interests is also a headache.maybe you can raise some suggestion for mylot to make it a better website which is more convinient for your users.

You can always scroll down the to bottom of the screen and choose GENERAL for the discussion interest. I do that sometimes, I have no idea where the discussion shows up or how many people see it but i always get some responses.

I find it hard to start a subject, especially when it is something I like like home improvements. It seems that asking how I can fix something is not in the interest rate and then I find in some cases, that I have something that I want to ask, and I do not because it is not in my interest rate and since I have a lot, I cannot go through all two hundred plus and find out what it really is about. I will have to delete the ones that have only one or two and concentrate on the ones with twenty or more so I will have more answers.

Hello dear friend. I am so sorry that the interest bothers you so much as you are not familiar with it when you are starting a new discussion. I used to choose General Discussion when I had no idea which topic my discussion would go. I think that we might be still able to use this column?

Most of the time I just stick everything under mylot or life; unless I'm really really sure, that's where it's going!

I know exactly what you mean! I have a ton of interests too. I wish they would put them in alphabetical order at least so that it would be easier to find the one we are looking for. Using a word processor won't help you right now because you can't cut and paste until you have 500 posts. :-(
