My cat was lost a month ago. Good thing is she returned. And now she's pregnant. We are so very worried if that is her situation. She's half-blind. How could she take good care of her kittens.

I would spay her immediately after the kittens start to wean, and would spay/neuter the kittens at 8 weeks old. They DO spay pregnant cats if they are not too far along. Check with your vet. Also, how do you know for sure if she is pregnant? Anyway, again, please keep your cat in the house from now on and do the right thing as far as the babies are concerns if she carries them to term.

well spaying a pregnant cat would be abortion, yuck. spaying is a nice option for some to employ but really has nothing to do with the question and concern of this discussion.

Oh I think animals has their instincts too that will fit their condition. I do have a pet dog a long long time ago that was blind on both eyes due to an accident she has. About a year she was able to survive blind and later we just realized she was pregnant and have 4 puppies and she was able to get her pups grow healthy and was able to adapt to things. She even was able to find her puppies that got astray by using her sense of smell. I was really amazed by her adaptation to her disability. She did have given birth twice in her lifetime and she bore about 8 pups in her lifetime. So I guess you have to trust your cat that she will be able to adapt.

I am confident that she will mother her kittens just fine - even if she had no eyesight, she would manage. Just make sure to give her the quiet surrounding that she needs and do not interfere too much - also provide her with plenty of water.

This is why you need to spay and neuter your pets!

Exactly. Is there any particular reason that you chose not to? I'm glad she's come home though. You must have been quite worried about her.

Wow that kitty was a busy girl lol I don't really think that you have anything to worry about because I have had cats all of my life and they have always taken care of their kittens and I think thats because thats their instint they just know what to do...like if you were half blind and you had a kid you would still be able to take care of that kid because you could still half see and you have your motherly instint...so you would know what to do if something came up and its going to be the same with her so dont worry!

haha... I think that is why she came back, she knows that you could help her and she must not leave home before her kittens has birth.

She will be able to take care of her kittens by instinct i'm willing to bed, she will feel around for them and stuff and if she is having a hard time in the beginning, then you could always help her out the best you can. All mommy kitty does really is lay down and the kittens pretty much find the milk themselves, so its not like she needs perfect eyesight for that right ? You should get her fixed after she has her kittens if you are concerned about having more kittens in your lives ;)

Very true. Maybe the kittens will adapt to her and realise her disablity. I think they kittied will still take to her and nurse. I think they will be just fine. I am glad you got your cat back.
