I'm so tired of dying it, but I have to. I have a gray streak above my right eye that goes all the way to the back of my head! I seriously have LOTS of gray for my age (having 5 kids probably doesn't help keep the grays away, lol). Most of family on my dad's side was gray before 25. My cousin looked like an old man when he graduated. He had hardly any hair and what he did have was completely gray! Poor guy. Although I'm not as bad off as he was/is...I still need help. These dyes are killing my hair. Does anyone know of a really good one that won't damage your hair so badly? Or should I just start wearing hats?

I feel your pain! I am 32. I got my first few grey hairs at the ripe old age of 14, and have been dying my hair since I was 21. I too have 5 kids, and boy it is hard to even find time to dye my hair!!! LOLOL Hang in there! I use Loreal Preference, and it seems to work pretty well, though I have to redye it every 6-8 weeks. I refuse to let the grey take over yet!!!

I know, I bought hair dye almost 2 weeks ago and just finally got around to using it tonight. It did NOT turn out the way I wanted it to. It's too dark for me. I have redish brown hair and now it's reallly dark redish brown. But, I'm sure after a couple shampoos it will lighten back up again. I used colorsilk which is the cheapest you can buy, but that's all I could afford right now. I have to use 2 bottles cause my hair is so long. I really wish I could whack it all off and just wear a hat....lol. I look HORRIBLE in hats though!

I too have to use 2 bottles of hair dye. Check your Sunday papers for coupons for better hair dye, really! Also, go to websites like Loreal and see if they offer any coupons that you can print from their website. :O) Good luck!

30? That's nothing. I know a guy that went gray at 16. That's right, 16. I don't mind going gray just as long as I don't go bald. At least if you gray you can just dye your hair. If you go bald then you gotta wear a stupid hairpiece or spend a lot of money on hair transplant surgery.

Yeah I REALLY hope I don't go bald. That would so suck! I'd much rather just have the gray!

I'm 35 and have had gray hair since I was about 19 years old. My mom was completely gray by the time she was 30. (My sister is 36 and is completely gray.)I could be myself but I don't let it go that long without dying it, I start seeing gray roots and I'm dying it again. I get tired of dying it too! I don't know of any dye that won't damage your hair, I use Clairol Herbal Essences and my hair isn't that badly damaged. A bit dry but then I use V05 Hot Oil Treatment once a week for that.

You have a very common problem here. I too face the same thing. But I was always very vary of dying my hair at a very young age so I took the middle way out. Once a year I got my hair highlighted, some streaks here and there which hid some of my gray hair and overshadowed many of them. I don't think there is anything that can stop hair from graying young if its in the genes. My mom had gray hair at a very young age and it came down to me too.

Well I remember Foxyfire saying crayola magic marker can color hair but other than that I've got nothing for dyes. You might be going gray but for now its only a streak. Some people like streaks, or at least something unique about hair. Don't worry too much (or you could find more grey...or worse balding...). *Uses totem of warding* Sorry about being another person to mention balding in this discussion, You'll keep your hair Steph. Think of the totem cast as my "good luck" to you. =)

I have been told by my loving sister that I have a lot of gray in my hair. I can't really tell unless I try really hard to look for it. I have dishwater blonde hair. Every once in a while, I color it to try to get rid of the ashy color. I usually use a medium golden blonde. I generally use Loreal Preference or Garnier Nutrisse.

I started going gray at twenty-six. But, it's not so important for a man, but now forty years later I am totally white, but at least have a full head of hair.

I guess it would be a shock to go grey so early but really there are a lot worse things that could happen to you.Be grateful you don't have cancer or the likes. If you are really worried then I guess you will have to continue dying it but you could always say the grey comes from wisdom.

I'm 32 and have several strands of gray hair. Though thankfully they are spread throughout my head. :P But unfortunately I have black hair so they can be spotted rather easily. It really sucks, but I'm just not ready to dye my hair yet. I'm kind of used to having gray hairs as I've had a gray strand or two since grade school (about 3rd grade). No kidding! My husband will be 41 in a few weeks and I've only found 3 gray hair on his head just a few days ago. He could have more, but with his blond hair the gray hairs are harder to spot! LOL Oh yeah, and he has a full head of hair too! It definitely makes him look younger than he is! Darn show off! LOL

I have bad gray hair too. I used to do it myself but my hair was a mess. Really you have to leave it to the professionals. Yes, it's more expensive and I only go about every 3 months because of that. But my hair is so much healthier because of the quality products they use.

I am also 30 and noticed my first gray hair when I was 17. I don't have patches or streaks of gray but I do notice more gray coming in every week. I have tried dying my hair but it doesn't work well for me. My hair has always been extremely healthy (my stylist says so), but it is also very oily. I must wash it daily because of the oil and my daily workouts during which I sweat. So I guess with all the natural oil and daily exercise working up a sweat is why the dye won't stay in my hair. It will wash out of my hair after about 3 washings. So I've decided to not fight the gray, as I am bound to lose. Ha, ha! Good luck to you, though.
