I took my daughter today to get her one year shots. I know I am mean taking her to get shots on her birthday. They wanted to give her SIX shots! They settled for 3 and she has to go back at 15 months and get 3 more. Can you imagine the pain my baby would be in if I let them give her all 6 shots? Doesn't that seem like a lot? She is current with her shots.

I think the problem a lot of one year olds are facing at the moment is that a combination shot that used to be used got taken off the market recently. The schedule they had been on required that shot at 12 months but now without it, it adds up to 6 separate shots still scheduled for 12 months. My son had some of his put off until 15 months also because of this. I think probably babies born since that recall are probably put on a different schedule so it won't be a problem anymore.

She had been getting the combo shots. She got her chicken pox, MMR, and her last HIB I think.

Immunizations really sucked for me. But my daughter only had 4 at one time and that was awhile back but yeah, it seems so unfair and i felt so bad for her. Shots and kids just don't mix well.

I do not like shots either. They give me the creeps.

6 shots? What were they for? My younger son is 14 months and I don't remember giving him 6 shots at a go ever. But come to think of it, it's better that way because you get done with all the pain on one day rather two or more. It's terrible to see your child in pain more than you can help (though I must say my boys have been pretty good about the whole thing....the older one would just wince and get done with even as a baby...the younger one gives one wail and he's done). My son's due for one shot next month. We have the easy fours and easy fives...which are actually 4 or 5 shots given in one shot...saves everyone the trouble and it's easy. We had 2 or 3 of those shots the first time round. I suppose your daughter is getting it separately.

I have never heard of doing 6 shots all at once. The most my son has had in one visit was 3. He has been fine and has not reacted too badly to any of his shots so far. He got a little cranky the first few times, but then went to sleep and was fine the next day. I hope she handles the shots well. I'm glad you talked them out of doing 6 shots. That seems like a lot for a little girl to handle all at once.
