Detox foot pads - do they work?

I am sure most of you have seen the "Kinoki" foot pad commercials and heard all of the claims. If you are like me, I just automatically dismissed them and assumed they were just another scam. But, my husband saw the commercial and got all excited and had to tell me all about them. He is a diabetic, who smokes and drinks, works a physically demanding job and he has a LOT of aches and pains. So, I did some quick research and found that "Kinoki" charges a $9.99 shipping and handling fee for EACH shipment of your "free pads for life" and they do not send very many in ANY of the "shipments". Also, some people have had problems getting them to "stop the subscription". Next stop - ebay. I found that there are a lot of other people selling both the "kinoki" foot pads AND other detox foot pads (which contain exactly the same ingrediants). I ordered a small batch of 20 foot pads and when they arrived; I gave them to my husband. If they didn't work, I wasn't going to be out very much and there was no "subscription" if they didn't live up to the TV claims. My husband tried them out and sure enough they did get all wet, brown, and smelly - just like on TV. But, did they do anything else? I asked my husband what he thought. Did they get rid of his pain, make him feel younger and more energetic, etc? What he told me, surprised me. He did NOT have "more energy or feel younger". His joints still were painful; but, not quite as bad as before. BUT, the big change was in his sinuses. He has had painful, congested sinuses for years (he is a smoker and won't stop). For the first time in years his sinuses were CLEAR; his congestion was gone; and no more sinus headaches! Now, I do not claim to understand how a pad on the bottom of your foot can clear the sinuses in the top of your head; but, for him they worked AND are still working. SO, I will be buying him a larger qunatity from ebay; because, he says that even if they don't do anything else for him; clear sinuses are worth the cost and mess. How about you? Have you or someone you know tried these detox foot pads? Did they work? What did they do? What do you think?

Sometimes when a diabetic's sinus' clear up it is because of elevated blood sugar. I'm diabetic and it happened to me. There are lot's of other things that can clear sinus', so there probably isn't any concern, but I'd check to be on the safe side.

He has been keeping an eye on his blood sugar readings and they are staying the same within +/- 5 points. Also, these pads say you should use them when you are going to be sleeping for 8 or more hours. The nights he works, he does not wear the pads the next day; because he only gets 5 - 6 hours sleep after he works one night and then has to work the following night. He worked last night - idid not put on the pads today when he slept and tonight before he went back to work, his sinuses were clogged again and his headache was back. He says that he likes his days off because he can wear these foot pads and get rid of the problem for a while. Before the pads, even 8 - 10 hours worth a sleep was not "clearing his sinuses" - so it is not the time off and the extra sleep - it is the pads.

Whether these actually "work" or whether it is a placebo effect, I do not know. I do know that the pads do change from white to a brown/black and my husband feels better after using them. Unless you happen to have an allergic reaction to an ingrediant in these pads; there is nothing in them that is harmful so they should be safe to use while you are pregnant. I do not use them myself because I have an allergic reaction to a lot of adhesives and there is a very good chance that the adhesive that holds them onto your foot would cause an allergic reaction (even the adhesive on many of the band-aids give me a rash and/or hives). So, I can only tell you what my husband's experience with them has been.
