I was surprised to see when I arrived at the office and saw my broken mug on the sink of our office pantry. My heart sank, I saw the handle and broken and useless. Of course I know I will not be able to use that mug. Its already 8 years that I have used that mug and now I have realized that good things wont last forever, coz though the whole mug is ok, if i will still use it I will hurt myself with the broken parts. Full of confidence I grabbed it and then tossed it on the garbage can coz i dont want anyone to get hurt with those broken ceramic mug. I have no idea who broke it or what happened. Thats I will have to know, i remembered was I put it in the refrigerator the night before. On the other hand, I have no other choice but to buy another, though i wanted to buy something that looked like it but there was nothing anymore coz its already been years that I bought that mug.I went to the same store and bought a circular black mug, the broken one was somewhat square. Did you have the same experience?

Sorry about your mug :0( Don't be sad.. at least you've got a brand new one already. But one should be responsible when he/she break other people's property right? That one is definitely not very nice...

That sucks about your mug dear, but just think, it was just a mug! And if that's the only thing in your life that you have to be sad about, then your doing AWESOME!! After all things could be much much worse!! like .. you coulda went home and ALL your mugs could have been broken!!! always look at the bright side, now you have something new to look at while your drinking your drink!! ;)

I understand, sort of like a sinking feeling, like OH NO MY MUG!! I have never had my mug broken, but other things i've had broken for sure and felt the same way, after a while it didn't matter anymore, but you feel a little pang inside when you first see your stuff broked,.

Yes thats always the initial reaction, sometimes theres denial but as time goes on you can only see it as history and nothing more nothing less.

Its a good news after the bad news and its just a mug anyway, there was a shock feeling at first sight of the broken mug but now its nothing to me, thanks to the new mug.

Oh I hate that when that happens. It happened to me once when I use to work in Samoa. I think two mugs were broken when I worked there, and i didn't break them. A friend of mine used my mug when I was away one day and broke it - actually she dropped the mug and it broke. She was nice enough to buy me another one :)

Oh no. Sorry your mug broke. :[ My mom's collected mugs over the years, from places we've visited, and now we have like 50 of them in the cupboard. We're always careful with them, and just use them at home, so I've never had a broken mug.

Oh, I am glad that you like your new mug. I also have a favorite cup for coffee. I do grow attached to certain cups and mugs for different drinks. But, that is great that you have adjusted to the new one :)

hi zelmarq... i am so sorry to hear about your broken mug... i do have a mug that i love as well and i bought it in 1997... it got my name and the meaning of my name written on it... i use it very carefully as i can't get the replacement anywhere now if i broke it... now, i hardly use it and i just put it in the drawer with other mugs because i am afraid of breaking it... or else, i just use it in my home... anyway, i'm glad that you have found the replacement for your broken mug...

When I was first married I broke a special mug that was my husband's. He was not mad, or even sad, although it was his favorite. I bought one that was similar, but it was not the same. It is okay anyway.

Now don’t cry over a mug for heaven’s sake! I have had a lot of similar experiences when maids, guests, people in general & me included, have inadvertently broken some precious or favoured piece of china. The initial shock was there no doubt, the grief the sense of losing something forever but then I get over such things quickly. I have two takes on such situations: one is I am not going to take anything with me out of this world, so why cry over them and second is if nothing breaks, I can buy nothing new! Think of that and smile.

You said it very well my firned, of course, on the brighter its good that we can let go of the things from this world and after all the broken things we can still smile at the end of the day.

Oh Zelly, I am so sorry to hear that. I know nothing can replace the mug, which is more of a sweet memory than a mere material. Get another one and move on and contemplate on the sweet memory. That's what life is all about. *Cheers*

Sorry about your mug Zelmarq. I recently bought a new coffee maker and right away the coffee pot broke...at the spout. Don't know what caused it. I was upset.

I do feel the same everytime a mug that has been with me for sometime gets broken. I am such a coffee addict that I too get attached to my mug. But as you said, nothing lasts even the good things. Its part of lifes' lessons of letting go and taking in new things. happy posting!

oh dear, so sorry to hear about this. the person who broke the mug should have at least apologised to you... and explain what happened instead of just leaving the mug in the sink like that. perhaps it fell out when he opened the fridge. and the person didn't know who it belonged to. perhaps you can find another mug you really like in future and that can be your favourite mug. the current black one can just be a temporary replacement. i usually keep my mug on my desk so nothing should happen to it unless someone takes it from my desk. my mug is also metal so i guess it's kinda hard to break. i have been using the same mug for more than 5 years now, and i love it cos it has a lid that keeps the dust out.

At my work once we had secret pals and my pal gave me a nice halloween gift. I never saw it becasue some one got into it and ate the candy and took the toys. I guess that has happend several times. I was hurt and upset why can't people leave their hands off of other peoples things.

sorry for your broken mug, you will soon adjust fully to the new one. atimes one gets used to a particular item to the extent that you wouldn't let it go even in clothes and the day it torns or breaks you will feel for it. take care.
