Obama: Decriminalize Pot

I just saw a news story about Barack Obama's feelings on decriminalizing pot. Here is the link: http://www.washingtontimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080131/NATION/896961936/1001 . How do you all feel about this? If you are an Obama supporter does this change your opinion of him or does it make you support him that much more? I for one like the idea of decriminalizing pot. I think it's a waste of my tax dollars for pot users to spend time in jail. I would rather law enforcement spend more time concentrating on punishing violent criminals.

Personally I think our whole justice system need to be overhauled. As far as Obama is concerned this will add to his appeal to our youth, especially if he can get all the pot heads who have never voted in their lives to get to the polls. There have been many attempts by the medical community to legalize pot for cancer patients who suffer the after effects of chemotherapy so far they have not been successful.

Hi cynddvs, I agree with you. In Canada it's possible to get permission to use it if one suffers from severe pain, and it is prescribed by a medical doctor.

I am not a pot smoker, but if they made it legal, they could tax it and control it and we would never, as a country, be in debt again. They could use that to fund the welfare system or something. My opinion of Barack is not changed. I want Romney, but if a democrat has to be in office, I would prefer Barack Obama over Hillary, any day!
