I recently found this new game called secondlife. It is supposed to be a game based on your virtual life. You can buy houses, sell stuff, open stores and meet new people. I downloaded the game and the graphics and the hole world is amazingly built, but its all about the money. Basicly everything you do or want to do will cost you real life money, atleast to start off with until you are able to make a rwal virtual living in secondlife. Has anybody played this before and what are your thoughts on it?

just started on there, and I don't really get it to be honest. I just walk into stuff and get a bit lost. I can see some potential there, but I don't really know what I'm oding.

I've tried it out but haven't been back on it for months-it IS a virtual second life, and you'd spend a *lot* of time on it..If you want to try it out and just explore, you don't need to spend anything-you can pick up so much stuff for free..the money part comes in if you want to really get into it and set up money making schemes, buy land,property,etc..You can make small amounts of the In world currency, the Linden Dollars ($L) with minor "Jobs" and tasks- there are free money places where you get money in draws, winning competitions, and there are outfits that will pay $L for you signing up for surveys and stuff you'll find on the web as "Get rich" schemes..there's an exchange rate against the US$! Those into RPG's would have a great time in SL..I encountered many different Genres of gaming- Shoot-em-ups,Dragons,Elves,Star Trek,Firefly/Serenity..that was the reason I went in-I'd heard Firefly fans in SL had created "Life size" models of the "Serenity" ship, and wanted to see that..I found fans had set up Life/gaming scenarios where they interact, fight with bad guys, have social events..Although US Based,SL has International appeal, with players from all over the world participating-You could visit places all over the world in SL :) SL doesn't seem to have a focus-it's not set up to have a specific purpose-It's not just leisure and making money-Certain Businesses are trying it out as a method of Virtual conferencing,Universities have presences for students..I didn't stay in it long enough to explore everything-it'd be like trying to catalogue every site on the web! If you enjoy the internet,I'd recommend taking a look at it-I see someone here responded their machine didn't have the graphics capabilities to run SL-that was my problem at first, too, but I recently upgraded and it works now..one thing I should mention-the system is upgraded on a weekly basis,so there may be an hour or so (Wednesdays) the system will be down for upgrade...these fix running problems with the increasing load being placed on the SL Servers by new users, and various system glitches..

I tried to download that game on my brand new laptop and it said my graphics card is old and I need a new one. Idk why, but I heard that game is very addictive. A couple of my friends play it and they love it.

It depends on how you look at it. At first, I didn't get what Second Life is too but then I learned that you can make some money from it and I blog about it at www.kabalyero.com
