any experience with dental implants?

My dentist says I'm going to lose some of my teeth. There is already one that is completely out of the bone and lying down flat, it could drop out at any time. She wants to pull them, but I'm horrified by the prospect of dentures. So I'm looking into the possibility of dental implants. Does anybody here have any experience with implants? What are the pros and cons? Do they feel like real teeth? Is getting them painful? Are they worth the expense?

I am in the beginning steps of having all my top and most of my bottom teeth pulled, and getting dentures, I for one can't wait for it to just be over with and done. I can see that the cost justifies the implants. If it were just one or two teeth and there was no chance of loosing any more, maybe, but it is very costly, like around $2000 dollars per tooth. Good luck with your dental procedures.

Thanks. My problem is that I have a major phobia about dentures. I can't imagine putting them into my mouth. My husband has a plate and I can't even look at it when he leaves it on the sink.
