There are islands in the south seas that have had to be evacuated due to rising water. Those people are now refugees. Here in Canada a lot of Inuit have had to relocate due to land erosion and ice loss. As for the 2012 theory, I think that's just silly. The world was supposed to end in 2000 too.

Look at the Roman Polanski case. He faces much harsher penalties now than he would have if he had served his conviction at the time of his sentencing.
