What size bag of potatoes do you buy? My store has loose potatoes, 5 pound bags and 10 pound bags. Normally, I buy the 10 pound bag, but sometimes the 5 pound bag costs less and occasionally the loose potatoes are the lowest price. Do you buy the best deal or just the largest size available?

I usually buy a 2.5 kg bag of potatoes. This is the about the right amount for our family for one week or more. If I buy a larger bag, when I am not home, hubby lets his kids makes heaps of wedges. This is not good for my hubbys diet, & it isn't encouarging the kids to eat a balanced meal.

Yes, wedges are much like french fries.

Are wedges like french fries? If so, I completely understand, as french fries are not good for me. I am trying to make all my vegetables healthy and low in calories. Thanks for the reply.

Unless there is a good sale on a bag of red potatoes, I usually always get the 10 pound bag of Idahos... as an all around eating potato. it is generally the 10 pounder that is marked down.

Hi, I purchase the 5 lb bag of potatoes as we like baked potatoes and during the summer we like potato salad. Now at our store, the loose potatoes are .99 a pound, so it makes better since to purchase the bag. If the 10 lb bags are on sale, I would buy them instead, because it is close to the price of the 5 lb bag not on sale. lol I am frugal and try my best to save money whenever possible.

I usually buy the cheapest or best deal. Sometimes I buy a large bag and they start to go bad before I use them all (often because I forget about them). I love potatoes though...they're so versatile and usually inexpensive.

I usually buy the 10 pound bag if I am buying regular russet potatoes. If I am buying red or Yukon gold potatoes I buy the 5 pound bag. I bought a 20 pound bag of russet potatoes about a month and a half ago because it was actually CHEAPER than the 10 pound bag and only 50 cents more than the 5 pound bag. We ate potatoes at almost every meal for a month, but I used every last one of them before they went bad. Talk about a deal. I paid $3.99 for 20 pounds of potatoes and they lasted over a month without spoiling.
