How big and Where do you put it?

What size microwave oven do you have? is it a small basic one primarily for heating things up? Or is it a large one that includes a convection oven and intended to replace the conventional oven in your home? Do you keep it on the countertop? or do you have a special cart for it? Do you have it in the kitchen or an adjoinging room? Maybe you have a hood thing that goes over your stovetop to house your microwave, or perhaps it is even built in to the wall?

LOL.. the title of this discussion threw me off! I hate those big clunky microwave that is mounted on the wall right above your stove. I am a short person, so reaching the darn thing is almost impossible. I prefer little microwaves where I can fit right on my counter in a nook or corner by the dishwasher. Speaking of microwaves, I have to clean mine. Heating up pasta sucks! especially, when the contents of the pasta gets stuck on the roof of my microwave.

Ummmm, mine is big but not the convecttion oven kind. It sets on the counter normally but afraid right now it's in storage. I love it because it has the carosal that turns so you don't get the burned spots like you sometimes got with the older ones.

the ones we have had all had the turning carousal as well, and it helped to heat evenly, no stopping to stir and such.

The carousels are great..mine has one too plus a button so you can turn it off or on but I've never had any reason to turn the carousel off :)

Wow - I've never seen one with 2 carosals or an on off button either but can't imagine shuting it off either. Mine is probably 10 years old now, wow time flies.

I love the header: How big and Where do you put it? ...sounds very risque ;) We have a stainless built-in over the stovetop microwave that vents out the front and has a built in fan underneath. It frees up a lot of counter space. We installed it ourselves without realizing the laundry chute was right behind the wall. We soon found out the screws were too long since all our laundry was disappearing! We cut down the screws and reinstalled and now our clothes make it down to the basement. :P

oh how funny about the laundry chute! sounds like a lot of work to take it down and alter the screws -

My microwave is a good size. It does not include a convection oven. I used to have one that sat on my kitchen cabinet but took up so much space that I gave it away, and bought a microwave that is a hood microwave that goes over my stovetop.

I think the hood location is ideal, out of the way - neat and saves space.

I just have a small panasonic microwave. I only use it for heating leftovers and baking the odd potatoe when i'm hard pressed for time. I bought that microwave not long after they first came out and small as it is i paid over 500 dollars at that time but how many years ago was that ? and the darn thing has never given me a minutes trouble. I have seen this same size microwave for 89.99, but if I was a betting woman I'd say that it wouldn't run as many years as this one has. Just my oppinion of course.

we paid more for such things back then to be certain - but today everything, it seems, is made to be disposable after a year or two of service. I think you had good foresight to purchase a smaller oven like that - as that is all that it is generally used for is heating things up.

I would say my microwave is a medium size. It doesn't do anything too fancy. I primarily use it for heating things and occasionally use it for defrosting something when it's not quite thawed out yet. I have a microwave cart that it sits on top of. I hate having my countertops cluttered with appliances. I like to have as much free space as possible for cooking and cutting and doing other kitchen-like things.

Mine is a small countertop microwave. I use it mostly to heat things up, but sometimes cook a piece of deboned chicken or "bake" a potato in it.

Hiya, I have a small microwave oven which I use mostly for heating things up and cooking 2 minute noodles :) It lives up on the top of my fridge. I have to be very careful though since i have to lift hot things down from above my head. Tanika.

It's on my counter top...and it's small and I usually just use it for heating things up or thawing them.

mine is a lil bit bigger than the ones you can buy now cause mines a bit older.but its still small enough to sit on my counter under the one cupboard.it is in my kitchen, no room anywhere else for it lol. i just use mine for warming up leftovers or for thawing stuff out if i don't have time to wait for it to do it slowly in the fridge or something. it works real well warming up timmies coffees too lol

Well, I am not really familiar what is big or what is small insofar as the microwave is concerned. But I think ours is just enough and it has a carousel. Basically we don't use it often. I bought it 5 years ago and it is still functional.
