I would like to hear peoples opinion on the New Amazon Kindle eBook reader. It launched in November and sold out in about 5.5 hours. I have read all sorts of articles and discussion boards regarding it. Some people are saying that it could revolutionize the eBook industry the way that the Ipod revolutionized the digital music industry. I am really interested in purchasing one, but they are all currently on back order, and they are a little more expensive than I can really afford right now. Does anyone here have one or has anybody else read about them and are also interested? I would love some feedback!!!

Hi-I'm interested in ebooks also, and have tried various programs and ebook reader devices with varying success..I've read good and bad things about this machine-great screen, easy to read,light,portable..Then I see the negatives..not as user friendly as it could be,page turning is too easily triggered accidentally, also,You're tied to Amazon for software/books to use on it..You can't use project gutenberg to get free books,or other ebook formats...it's expensive... currently,I'm using www.booksinmyphone.com - a free download for your java phone, and free ebooks to read with it.

I saw an article on the kindle this week..it seems to be selling well,as they're having problems keeping it in stock and increasing production to cope! Thanks for the best comment!

I think Kindle is an awesome concept but maybe a little before its time. Overpriced to be sure, although if it is true that we could read the whole first chapter of any book Amazon carries (plus?) that might make it worthwhile. By that time we would sure know if the book was worth finishing! Ridiculous name, though! If anyone has one I hope s/he checks in here with an informed opinion!
