Why are discussions left active for so long?

I have noticed that often a discussion will interest me enough that I want to reply, then I see that the post was made about a year ago. Why does Mylot leave them active so long? I am not complaining, but seriously doubt that the poster is still interested in any more answers or comments on the subject. I am kind of new here so I may just not be getting it. Any ideas?

I dont think any of the discussions ever become INACTIVE, I have been here over a year and all of my almost 800 discussions are still active, and can be answered by anyone. Why would you want them to become inactive is a better question nova ;) A year is a long time in mylot time, people come and go, most of the people who were answering my discussions a year ago are not even here anymore, so i ahve a whole new group of friends that are answering my discussions if they end up being brought up to the front of the discussion list again. Which i can do by replying to anyone of the responses... So you see it is kinda good ;) Happy mylotting ;)

Ok, I guess I understand now. I just didn't realize anyone would look to see if a question they had a year ago was being answered now.

Ohhhh.. well when a discussion you made a year ago has a new reply, if you have your notification on it should a. go to your email, and b. go to the top of your list in the section "discsussions i've started" :) Sorry if i came across rude or impolite, I didn't mean to, but when i re-read what i wrote it seemed kinda straight forward and blunt :/

Hi, Well I think it is great that myLot discussion never become inactive. This because when im browsing myLot and I see a discussing I would like to ask a question in I can. Who doesn't want that. As for your question I geuss the previous reply above is right. Why do you want a discussion to become inactive. Don't really see the point actually. With kind regards, MOnline

You don't have to appolagise. Here at myLot your with friends so don't worry about being rude. Most people will relate to you. I am also a very new member (If I guess I think about a week now). But I think its important to see that you are able to ask almost anything you want on myLot as long as you try not to be very rude and stuff. Have fun on myLot, With Kind Regards, MOnline

Sorry, I'm still learning mylot perspectives I guess. Ijust was afraid it would seem rude of me to jump in with an answer to a question someone asked 12 months ago and no longer has any interest in now.

I don't think it's such a bad idea my friend. In one year many things change. Maybe what you or the people that responded to that question changed as well. Maybe there are more news about the subject, or even it's just more relevant now than what it was then. It's a matter or storage space I guess, and if my lot has it, then it's fine :)

With this many members and new ones joining every day it is impossible for us to see every discussion while it is still fresh, so we attend to the ones we can and then later, go back and read older discussions that interest because of the topic OR because they were started by our friends. You will find that this is a very supportive community over all. Answering old discussions is a great way for a newbie to learn myLot and make friends, actually, just check to see if the person who started the old discussion is still active, by looking at that person's "activity sortie" to see if s/he posted anything recently. You want to make sure the person is still a member before replying. :-) Welcome to myLot!

Actually I hadn't thought of that, thanks. Usually I just go to newer discussions, but will sometimes answer old ones. Checking to make sure the poster is still an active member really makes sense.
