A little boy went into a store, reached for a soda carton and pulled it over to the telephone. He climbed onto the carton so that he could reach the buttons on the phone and proceeded to punch in seven digits. The store owner observed and listened to the conversation. The boy asked, "Maam, Can you give me the job of cutting your lawn?" The woman replied, "I already have someone to cut my lawn." " I will cut your lawn for half the price of the person who cuts your lawn now." replied the boy. The woman responded that she was very satisfied with the person who was presently cutting her lawn . The little boy was even more perseverant and said, "I'll even sweep your curb and your sidewalk, so on Sunday you will have the prettiest lawn in all of Palm beach, Florida." Again the woman answered in the negative. With a smile on his face, the little boy replaced the receiver. The store owner, who was listening to this conversation, walked over to the boy and said, "Son I like your attitude; I like that positive spirit and would like to offer you a job." The little boy replied, "No thanks, I was just checking my performance on the job I already have. I am the one who is working for the lady I was talking to!" What is the moral of this story. Do we do these kind of query with our employer........

oh i think its so pretentious and evil when you go behind someones back.. how would you know if the lady just said that she's not happy with her old lawn cutter's performance just to get someone who can do it for half the price?! I would rather come forward and ask my employer how my status is and how am i doing as an employee rather than go behind their back and get hurt in the process.

You got a point there but then at least you already know what your employer judgement of you. There are times that an employer praises you upfront but at the back they are not. By calling her employer she is able to get an unbiased opinion about your work. Sometimes when we confront others you don;t get a genuine opinion about yourself. I think it is a wonderful way of knowing how you are doing. Many companies are doing that for themselves they hire other company to rate how they perform in the market.

Wonderful story, thanks. Can I copy and share in the other forum? I think this is the lesson of how to check customer satisfaction, and we can see here the chance can come to us when we have good attitude of working. I love the story.

woow.thats an amazing story.really i haven't heard it before and it is great to hear stories like this even if it is so small. We should appreciate the boy's attitude and sincerity and i am sure that no one among us would be doing this..at least i am not doing like.and if at all i do like this the lady would defenetly say positive to the boy in his very first attempt.

That is a wonderful story. Sounds like that little boy will make a terrific businessman when he is older and it shows that more people should be like him. It would be good to do what he did and know whether or not you are doing a good job for your employer.

awww lol he sounds like a very smart boy...I have never actually done that before...but that isn't a very bad idea at all..to see how your employer likes you...I mean if you do that and the woman still says no that she has someoen that she is satisfied with..that means that you are doing and awfully good job for her

That is great and what a kid, he had moxy and pride, and intelligence too. would that my employer had said something like that to meinstead she let me go as she put it because. get this. I was almost eighty as though that was a horrible crime. older people now often work in their senior years and do a damned good job too. To rub salt into my wounds she said I was one of the best employees she had ever had and she hated having to do this. oh give me a break. I almost said then why do it at all?
