Do you mind people smoking?

I am a smoker and so I dont mind others smoking, but I like to think I am a considerate smoker. I have children and never smoke around them I always go outside no matter what the weather, I would never smoke around other people who did not smoke, and I never smoked in a restaurant or anything either, but its all banned in public places in England now so its a lot better. Smoking is not good for me and I know this, but it is an addiction and so thats why I do it, I think I smoke about 7 a day, when you have withdrawal symptoms its horrible and thats why I have not given up completely yet.

Its a very,very powerful addiction. I have smoked for a good portion of my life. I have quit for long periods and always gone back. I can tell you from being on both sides of it, that the smoker does NOT smell the gross smell. Smoking weakens your senses greatly. Your roommate is being down right rude! Others will follow and smoke because he does and they feel it is acceptable. You need to speak up. I am a smoker and I do not smoke in my house when my daughter is here or soon to be here...which is most of the time. The smell bothers her. I will not smoke around a non-smoker even if they say its ok...it is offensive to anyone who does not smoke! You play sports and it is unhealthy for you to be breathing it in. You have rights and you have a right to be respected.

I think that your roommate is being different towards you. You should talk to him and tell him that you don't mind of his smoking but only thing that you are against is that you smoke inside the room which is shared by others too. It is really bad and is injurious to health. You really have to find a solution for this. Take care.

i don't mind but i can say them this is injurious and it kills So please stop smoking it will help you and worth your valuable life by doing so

I definitely hate people smoking around me. I try to avoid them as much as possible, however if they are my friends usually I try to hold my breath haha... being a guy I don't want them knowing that I hate smoking.

hi! i myself also can't e smell of e smokes...i also don noe y ppl wanna smoke it not only harm themselves it also harm ppl around him/her...some ppl think it can relieve stress but i find tis method stupid coz at e end still getting yrself sick...lucky my frenz around don smoke in front of me or i will comfirm flare up hehehe

Yes, I mind when people smoke, though I appreciate it when they don't smoke around my kids or myself. If these people want to ruin their health by smoking far be it from me to stop them, but I'll be d@mned if I'll subject my family to it any more than I have to. Your roommate should show some consideration and not smoke around you. Second hand smoke can be just as dangerous if not more than actually smoking the things yourself. It is not right for you to have to breath it. Have you talked to him about this? Maybe he'd be willing to stop smoking inside your guys' place if you let him know how you feel. Good luck.

It's just that they like to play as if they "in" into smoking. Actually, I hate people who smoke carelessly as if they are the only person in the room. And sometimes it gets into my nerves, that I have to reprimand the smoker to go outside and do his useless ritual.

Well,they should have a little respect for non-smokers.Can you see if you can get in with a different room mate that doesn't smoke ? I smoke but I don't smoke around non-smokers,its just rude.Try and hang out with more non-smokers.

I definately do mind people smoking in the same house as me because of passive smoking. I do not want to get lung cancer, heart disease etc. I also do not like the stench that it leaves in the house. Everyone has a choice if they want to smoke, I just think it would be nice if they don't smoke in front of non smokers as we choose not to smoke.

Smoking is a personal choice, so it shouldn't matter to others. But, that said, your roommate should have enough respect for you to not smoke indoors if it bothers you.

Sometimes I do mind, especially when I'm off to an important meeting or occasion, and like I want to smell fresh when I get there and someone sitting beside you like in a public transport...it irritates me a lot.

I cannot tolerate people smoking...My previous roommate used to smoke but i made strict rules and told him that he could not smoke inside the room...If i find myself in a public place and my friend starts to smoke I ask him to take it somewhere else or i myself move away from there.Its a disgusting habit..Hope people go through with the withdrawal symptoms and stop harming others while harming themselves.

Well generally if someone's I don't know is smoking on the street I don't really mind- I know it's killing me but tolerance is a two-way street. They're tolerating what I'm doing so I'll do the same for them. However smoking seems like a pretty stupid idea to me and I would get really annoyed if my roomate smoked because second hand smoking causes just as much harm to your lungs as it does to theirs!

no not at all! why would i mind someone smoking! even i used to smoke a lot early in my teens but i do not smoke at all. and i do not mind people smoking as i am also used to be one of them! Thank you for the topic.
