Since today was payday and I had to do my grocery shopping I decided to treat myself to lunch before I went shopping and there is a Wendys next door to the store I shop in. I sat down with my little tray and as I was eating different things were going through my mind that sounded like good discussions on mylot. I pulled out a pen and piece of paper from my purse and wrote something down then proceeded to eat my lunch. Not 5 minutes later something else came to mind so I pulled the paper and pen out again and wrote it down. After I did this like 4 times I started laughing at myself! I must have been in a silly mood because I started laughing so hard (and sitting by myself mind you) that I had to finish my meal fast so I could get out of there! I have to admit a couple of people did look at me like I was a weirdo and I'm sure I looked like one too! Has anything like this ever happened to you? Do you write ideas down for mylot discussions when you're in odd places?

Oh yes, have done this but most of my ideas come when I'm driving some place - I really want one of those little bitty voice recorders so I can just 'leave myself a message' when I come up with ideas - not just myLot but many other things too.

I would love to get one of those voice recorders especially for when I go grocery shopping. Yesterday I forgot quite a few things and I'm so mad at myself today. I did have a list but forgot to take it with me...yet I have a list of mylot discussions...lol

LOL I was going to start a discussion about this. You beat me to it! I was doing the same thing while waiting in the car rider line at my sons school. I left the house super early to be in the top ten cars. I sat in line an hour to get home sooner....or I could have left later and not stayed in line and gotten home later...but I got about 50 ideas for discussions LOL

Waiting in line is probably the best place to do it! It keeps you from getting aggravated.

hahaha that is so cute ctry. I have often thought of putting stuff on mylot when things happen while I'm at the grocery store, or out volunteering at my sons school but never have a peice of paper on me to write it down. I'm like, ok I wonder if that would be a good discussion to post. Then as soon as I get home I've forgotten LOL

I always have a pen and some paper in my purse just for times like this! Right now there is a piece of paper in there with a lot of ideas but some I don't think are that good.

Yep, you're an addict, LOL. You have all the symptoms. I have tried to go and sit in a crowded place and come up with ideas. But it does not work when it is forced. Normally I will just write about everyday things or allow things to just naturally come to mind. When I try to force it, I simply get frustrated.

I have never actually written any myLot discussion themes down. But I've often wished that I had! We no longer have Wendy's over here. There was one store in London but it never really took off. Shame, because I am not a fast food fan, but Wendy's had an appeal about it. A girl that I knew at U-M claimed that she had known the founder and that Wendy was/is the name of his daughter. Don't know how true that it.

That is true, Dave Thomas named his restaurant after his (then)little girl. I'm not 100% sure, but I think she is still involved with the company on an executive level.

Well you know what they can do if they can't take a joke? hehehehe. Isn't it amazing all we need to do sometimes is smile and people wonder what you're up too. I often have to write things on paper, like I said to someone last week I'm getting so forgetful I'll be able to hide my own Easter eggs this year. hehehe Take Care.

Maybe you have a great gift inside you for bigger and better things. Your story reminds me of a lovely person I met who always carried pen and paper with her no matter where she was. If she didn't have a purse you could almost always bet there was a pad and pen in one of her pockets. It was a must for her. She won five awards for her songs five years in a row that I know of. I dont' know if she earned more but she did write all of her own amazing songs that were like beautiful stories. I only met her a few times but she told me when she started writing she decided to always have a pen and paper on her for those moments ideas came to her. She said eventually the ideas came more often and eventually more complete until full blown songs would just poor out of her. She said if I wanted to write this was what I needed to do and the gift would grow! I have never done it mind you and that could be why my dream to write a book as not come true. Have you ever wanted to write a book or maybe stories for a magazine? If so your off to a good start according to the advice I was given.

Pen and Paper - and get ready for mylot!!
Oh yeah I've done that before. I think that when one is alone, the mind tends to wonder off and gets to thinking about things that we've done and have to do still and that's when mylot comes to focus and Ah! a discussion idea comes to mind! lol Then we wonder about our sanity... lol Gotta love the human mind!

Oh yes, this is me totally. I seem to always have mylot on my mind when it comes to ideas to start a discussion with. I am like you and I pull out a pen and paper and write down ideas. But then sometimes I read them when I am posting in mylot, and I don't know what I meant about it. I have to start writing down more of my thought instead of just one word. My husband has gone into my purse, with my permission of course, to get something out of it, and has found these little pieces of paper with notes joted on them. He has asked me what they mean and why I wrote them down and when I told him they were for starting discussions in mylot, he has laughed at me and told me I have totally lost it.

lol - that's great! I should write ideas down, of course, they usually come while I'm driving around. I always tell myself "I will remember..." and then I always forget.

That's it, you are officially an addict! lol. Writing notes is a clear sign! I'm too new to this site to be one but I'm addicted to several others and Yes I carry a note book! Trouble is all my ideas come when I'm driving! As I really like this site I'm sure I'll be a mylot addict pretty soon too.

I have been known to do that, but not laugh about it. Right now my brain is on vacation, or something, so I am not doing discussions. I am not even getting to resolving my discussions. Spring break is coming up, so perhaps I will catch up to my sill friends, then.

I only did that once and it was while I was in the store for a discussion that I just recently posted. Other than that I can't think of any ohter time where I have done that.

LOL... too funny, ctry! I'm not smart enough to have a pen and paper with me when I go out (or maybe it's just because I don't carry a purse!), but I have been known to call home and leave a message for myself when I have a killer idea. You know, they have everything but the kitchen sink incorporated in cell phones now, why in the world wouldn't they make one with a built-in recorder for memo-ing yourself?

Are you sure you are not a mylot addict?... well... what happened to you at Wendy's is an indication that you are becoming one... and if you start dreaming about mylot everynight or every other night... then for sure.... you are a mylot addict... LOL I don't always carry a pen and notebook with me... so i just try very hard to remember a very good discussion topic everytime i chance upon one... but alas... most of the time... if forget them...

I sometimes have to write down ideas for topics before I can go to bed at night. I have written down topics while I was doing something else. Once while at work on break and once before I started my car up to go home. I used to think people were talking to themselves or laughing at themselves, but now I just think they're on a cell phone because they usually are. Take care
