What is your favourite book? And how many books did you read last year? (or last month )

I could never pick a favourite book either. I have favourite authors but have learned that stepping outside the box and reading new authors can be very enlightening. I have always been an avid reader. In grade 7 our librarian had us keep track of the books we were reading by title, author, and date completed. I never stopped doing that. My year end date is February 18th, which I just realized yesterday so I updated my list. I only managed to read 10 books in the past year because I have been focusing on my writing. I did the most reading when I went to work by commuter train every day. But now I am home with a computer instead. LOL! It's been 33 years since I started keeping this list - 33 years and almost 800 books. How could I possibly pick a favourite?

Oh, and the most books I have read in a year is 55 - 1989/90 and 2000/01. The fewest is 7 back in 1996/97. That would be the year I had my second child who was colicky (born August 1996).

I read constantly and make my living selling books but I have no idea how many books I've read in the last year. I also have never counted the books that I own nor do I intend to ever count them. I distrust people who keep track of their books. To me, it's a little like counting how many times a day you draw breathe.

My all time favorite book is Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. I'm currently reading the Kitty series by Carrie Vaughn and I'm enjoying it. I'd say I read on average 2-4 books a week. So I guess thats anywhere from 100-200 books a year. I like science fiction, mystery, horror, thriller, romace, historical fiction, and chick lit.

I am trying to read the seven book series by Shelby Foote on the Civil War. it has taken almost two years so far because I mainly just read on breaks at work. Last year I had a goal of four books and missed it by 150 pages. I have the same goal this year.

I could never pick a favorite, I have read hundreds of good ones. I have no idea how many books I read last year, but I do know that I read 6 books in February. LOL I am almost finished with my first book of March. (I'm a book fanatic...)

My current favorite book is probably Freakonomics; actually, that has been my favorite book for quite some time now! I had to read it for a course in Microeconomics but it was quite possibly the easiest read ever! To your other question, how many books did I read (we'll go with last month)... I read 4 books last month for pleasure, but I also read at least three others for school plus numerous scientific journal articles and chapters in textbooks. The funny thing is... I used to hate reading!
