Sunflower seeds?

My husband is a sunflower seed addict. He eats sunflower seeds all the time, all day long. He has a bag in his desk at work, in the truck, in every room of the house that he sits in, like the livingroom and bedroom and bathroom and kitchen, and garage. We buy about 15 big bags of sunflower seeds every two weeks and he usually eats all of them in that time period. I don't know how he doesn't have salt sores on his lips and mouth, but he doesn't. I could never eat as many as he does. The part that makes me upset though, is the shells are everywhere also. He misses the dish or garbage or where ever he is spitting them, and then they are all over the place. I am constantly vacuuming because I can't stand them being all over. So do you eat or your spouse, eat a lot of sunflower seeds? How many bags do you buy every shopping period?

My husband and I both love sunflower seeds but we always get the shelled variety these days...much easier and less mess. I love them alone or in trail mix and, our favorite, sprinkled on salad.

Wow I am surprised to get a response on this discussion again, as it is 5 months old, Thank you for bringing my discussion back to life. I don't eat sunflower seeds anymore since I am dieting and they are very high in calories and oils.

I haven't eaten sunflower seeds since I was a child. I loved the way they tasted. I hated how salty they were and that I couldn't eat too many before I got salt sores in my mouth, or something of the like. My fiance, I don't think he eats them but i'm not sure. Somehow, I doubt it as his mother's favorite flower is a sunflower. Actually I think i've eaten them once sort of recently with friends.

I love sunflower seeds, although not nearly as much as your husband seems to. I can go months without them, but I enjoy them when I do eat them. I usually get the ones already shelled, but when I buy the ones with shells, I'm very careful about keeping them picked up.

I like these but hardly ever eat them because it is next to impossible not to make a mess. I always know when one co-worker has been using my desk as there are shells all over the floor! Drives my batty!

I love sunflower seeds but dont eat them as much as my boyfriend. Back when I was buying them for him I would pick up atleast 2 14OZ bags each time.

I love sunflower seeds and so do my kids. But we prefer the kind without shells. It's fun sometimes to do the shelled kind, but when I'm hungry I don't want to have to take the time with that (even with the ability to de-shell in your mouth). It just takes too long to get to the tummy! ~Tink

I too love sunflower seeds but I use an empty bottle to spit the shells out when I eat them. I can go through a big bag of them every week.
