Planning for honeymoon...

So many places to choose to go.. So many packages to pick from... So many agents to select with... Man~~~ I never knew it was so tough to plan for a honey moon! If only budget is not an issue, I would definitely be able to do so much more!! First it was deciding over which country to visit. Then it was comparing the various itenary offered by the various packages and agents. Then it was selecting the "BEST" packages to suit our tiny budget. So the quest for a perfect honeymoon begins... After poring over so many colorful catalogs and brochures, we got so excited that we were finally going to take time off our busy schedule to go on a trip to celebrate our marriage. Man~~~~! The sheer varieties of packages offered are really making one spoilt for choices. The numerous packages and perks each has to offer is really making my mind boggle! I guess we have to put it down to too many choices, too little budget. Sigh~~~~ this is going to be a really tough job... deciding on a tour package. I am sure there are many married couples here in mylot. How did you plan for your honeymoon? For those single or not married, how did you plan your holiday trip?

i'm single so didn't have the experience of planning for a honeymoon. however i do take trips to other countries. i usually try to take one long trip and one short trip every year. long trips usually last a week, not that long in many's measurement. short trips last a couple of days, usually 3 to 4 days. for long trips, i try to go for places that i've never been before. while short trips i go to places that i've visited and thoroughly enjoyed myself. how i identify my destination for the long trips are simple. i just ask myself this question - if i were to die tomorrow, what is the place that i will most regret not visiting. that usually does the trick. however, if there is more than one place then it'll be a matter of my schedule and the flight schedule. whether the peak season coincide with my leave period and stuff like that. however, if i do go for a honeymoon, i'd choose a place that doesn't have too much activities. a honeymoon is for two person to get used to living together and understand each other better. it's also a good time to 'discover' certain habits as you'd be in a more forgiving mood while on holiday. if the days are packed with activities, how are you going to know your partner better?

We did some good consideration and decided to go to Europe for a nice vacation. In fact, we just got back. I am trying to consolidate my note so that I can start a sort of journal. Look out for it yah?

ha ha ha ha ha... thanks rahane7315. We did consider those locations you mentioned. But we decided to go tour Europe instead. Just came back from the long holiday. Europe was both fun and a eye-opening experience for the both of us. Will be consolidating my adventure and will post more. Look out for it!

We spent our "late" honeymoon in the Cayman Islands. The 7 mile white sand beach there is so pretty. Very peaceful and calming. It is just expensive over there but so worth it.

ah... that sound really nice ladymoonstone143. So what did you do there? Diving? Snorkeling? or just plain laid out on the white sand and laze the day away? When you say expensive, how expensive do you mean? For example, back where I am from, a tourist price for a can of coke is like $2. In Europe where we just came back from, the same can of coke costs as much as 5 Euros! Which translate to roughly about $12. That is like 6 times the price one would pay back home.

I went to Venice in Italy for my honeymoon. I hope that you can choose the perfect location for your honeymoon. If you want it close to home you could choose Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines or Indonesia. All of these countries would offer palm fringed beaches, friendly people and interesting sites. You don't have to take a package you could cheaply forget what you would both like to go. I would buy a flight then go island hopping in the Philippines. Good luck and have a wonderful honeymoon to celebrate the start of your happy marriage.

Wow... Venice! We were thinking of going there as well. How long did you stay in Venice? What are the must see? What are the good to have, but can avoid to save cost optionals? Did you go on a free and easy? Or did you go with a package tour? Any nice pictures to share? 8p

finally you're going on your honeymoon, ah gong! congrats on that! I guess there's nothing such as the perfect honeymoon, so don't pressure yourselves so much... I think the first thing to decide is the budget, then you can narrow down to all the available choices. of course you could also tailor the duration to fit your budget. For instance, we went to NZ, but only the south island, and only for 9 days. so it wasn't as pricey as some NZ honeymoons which are like 14 days and north and south, which incurs extra inland flights and the like. Also accommodation is more expensive there compared to south east asian standards, so every extra night chalks up and snowballs the total sum required. Where are you considering for a start? I found it useful to first decide whether i wanted a totally chill out holiday (e.g. maldives, bali) or a holiday to see new places and gorgeous scenery. I knew i didn't want a holiday where i had to rush from place to place to see landmarks (e.g. europe), or a totally nua holiday (my friends were bored stiff in maldives). so nz was the perfect choice. It was SOOOOOO beautiful. And there was no language barrier. The only thing was, we kinda looked forward to local food after all those days there!

We did consider the Maldives and the NZ islands. But we were also wanting to go somewhere further, considering this is one of the longest vacation we are going to be able to apply from work. So after lots of consideration, we went to Europe instead. The trip was really good. We did part of the trip Free and Easy. The rest was with a tour group. Consolidating my stuff now so that I can start some sort of Journal. Look out for it yah?

Hmm... when planning an out of town trip/honeymoon the first thing that I will consider is the budget. I've been married for almost 5 months but we don't have our honeymoon yet. We prioritize first the expenses that we had during our wedding then we need to save up afterwards. I'm still in the process of making plans to go to Boracay either on April, May or June. I'm just waiting for the airlines here for their promo packages after the Holy Week which is considered to be the Super Peak Season. Due to it's long holiday off, a lot of people take advantage to hit the beach during this period of Lenten Season.

We face the similar predicament you were facing as well. With all the expenses on wedding, housing and other what nots, we were stretched. That is why the honeymoon gotta take a back seat till now. Just came back from the holiday and it was good. So, when and where will you be planning your honeymoon?

On my honeymoon, 8 months ago, we went to our own island, Bali.. well we live in Bali and this island is already a beautiful one, beside of the budget we've decided not to go too far and we can save the airplane tickets for another luxury treats. The honeymoon was great, we just travel 1,5 hours away and stayed in a beautiful hotel with ricefield view and just enjoying the moment without going for shopping or sightseeing, because we already know this place..We are really have a great time together.. and no need to worry about the budget..

I have seen many pictures of Bali. And the place looks really nice and tranquil. I am sure it would be really nice to bask in the sun on those sandy white beaches while enjoying a coconut or two. Heh heh heh... so you had a great time together? I am sure you did... heh heh... But my wife and I decided to go on a longer trip further away! So we are still looking around for a good package to say America or Europe or somewhere further. :p Thanks for sharing your holiday experiences with me afternoontea. Appreciate it.
