How could a parent put their child in a dryer for a "good time"?

Another situation where people should not be having a kids. A man in Kansas put his 2 yr old daughter and 3 yr old son in a clothes dryer so that they could have a good time without spending any money. The daughter was okay, but the son had burns from the incident. Apparently, there were signs of a possibly abusive household prior to this event. How could anyone who really loves their kids do this to them? http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,335471,00.html

This might be a good time with the proper safety equipment and the heating element unplugged. I wonder what people are thinking. I can't believe the kid made it to 3 with this type of parenting. I have said it many times. People NEED to get a license to have kids. This type of parenting supports my belief. I have had people attack me here on myLot for saying that people need to take a test and get a license to have children.

I agree, people should have to take a test. I think something similar, but safer of course would be fun for a teenager but not a young child. But if you are going ot do that, you may as well take a ride in one of those human hamster blow up balls.

Not only a test and license, but the parents should also have a financial analysis done. Some parents have a ton of personal debt and a mortgage to pay off, yet they have more kids to add to their expenses.

This is so unreal. A fun time? That is absolutely insane. there are definitely other things he could have done to have a fun time with them without spending any money. maybe take them to a playground or the park. you don't stick a child in the dryer. what is wrong with parents these days? argggggggggggghhhhhhhhh

Unfortunately, people just do not think. I don't even know who anyone would want to put anything living in a dryer. For all we know it is just a cover up story to hide more abuse.

this is true. there is no telling what those kids have had to endure and they just got caught this time and were trying to play it off. the kids need to be taken out of the home and be put in a loving family where they will be loved and cared for properly. it sickens me to know end to see how parents can do their children. they need to be put in jail and go through some extensive counseling and parenting classes. it's absolutely ridiculous.

it is just amazing! is he an human being or just a monster? I just can't think of it. oh my God! He must be sick. I ahve never heard any adult doing this.

Due to the fact that he abused his kids as well, I would go with the monster option. We really need to find a way to make people get tested before allowing them to have kids.

Excellent idea. Maybe the people in jail will take care of that.

I can't imagine anyone thinking that is a good thing. Yet on here there was a discussion asking if we could still fit in our dryer. I didn't read it or respond but now that you post this article....it's kind of odd. now I'm going to go back and read the other post. It can't be common for people to get in dryers can it?

I saw that discussion too. I didn't read or post to it though. I thought it was a rather odd question to ask.

I just can't believe that anyone would be that stupid, but it wouldn't have happened if there wasn't someone out there this dumb. I'm glad that there were no permanent injuries to these children. I wonder what my husband would say to me if when he came home from work tonight I said "Hi Honey, I gave the kids a ride in the dryer today!" I might do it just to hear his response. I wonder if the kids are still under his care?

He has been in jail since 2006. The article did not mention who the kids are with now.

People who love their kids don't do things like that to them. I have five children and I would never put any of them in the dryer. There are too many sick people out there that have kids and abuse them. People like that should never be allowed to have children, but unfortunately you don't know who those types are until it's too late. It's so sad that there are children out there that have to go through that.

well as a parent i know that there are many ways to have a 'good time' with your child and not pay money...you can go to the library and get movies, go to the park, to the beach, play a game - there are a lot of ways! i cant see this being a very loving parent!

I've heard of a few different incidents like this. It's sad. I can't imagine what that poor child went through and how horrified they were. What the heck was he thinking - or wasn't thinking?

Definitely wasn't thinking. It is a shame that no one took the children away when the boys collar bone was broken the 2nd time.

And that would be a good time for the kids how? I mean what are people thinking when they do stuff like that.

The dad should be put to jail. I can't even think of doing that to a dog! If they wanted to save money, he should've taken his kids to the park, or a playground. Parents shouldn't put their kids in any type of harm.

This man is just another reason why certain people should not be allowed to have kids.

Unfortunately I knew of this incident several months back. I believe it was July or August of 2007 when I heard about it. He happens to be related to my boyfriend's family somehow, cousin or something. Anyhow, that one hit close to home. I don't know the guy personally and wouldn't want to. It is very sad when you hear of someone abusing children and I stand against it. I also believe that people who abuse their children should have the same treatment 10 fold.

I thik I would not volunteer that I was related to someone like that.I agree. The original incident happened November 2006. I really don't remember seeing this in the news before, but I can't say that I was really following the news at that point either.

Thats a terrible thing, how could he think that doing this is fun. Those poor kids. I hope he gets punished for this.

I doubt it if they really love their children. First thing is why do they find it "fun" to hurt their own children? I do not what kind of people are they and what were they thinking when they did that.

I really do not think that this person even thought it out as far as to think their child could get hurt. I believe that they just really saw it as something that would be cool to do, not even thinking about the dryer getting hot.
