Do you have any ridiculous pet peeves? I do.

There's no reason at all for my pet peeve to irritate me but I hate the way people preface their phone conversations with the word "yes". Someone answers the phone, "Acme fireworks" and the caller says, "yes, I'd like to know how much a roman candle costs." Why in the world do they do that and why should it irritate me so much?! Do you have any really silly pet peeves?

My biggest pet peeve is bad drivers! It annoys me to no end when people pull out in front of me, only to drive 1/10 of a mile and turn into a driveway or another road. I also hate when people ride my butt, especially when I am already doing the speed limit or a few miles per hour over.

I know, that's so ridiculous. They did a study of people who did the limit and those who behaved as you've just cited. The speeders saved less than a minute by their reckless behavior. It really frosts me that they don't care about other people that they might injure or kill--which comes back to the attitude so many people seem to have, "it's all about me". I usually try to stay out of their way.

I don't know if it a pet peeve or not but I hate automated customer service lines. Every time I have to deal with one I swear my blood pressure goes up. I also really hate it when my kids or anyone flickers lights off and on.

I can't stand those stupid automated "service" lines!!!! If you press "0" repeatedly or just yell "OPERATOR" over and over, it will give you a live person. You don't really have to yell or repeat yourself very much, it just feels good to yell at the robot.

it irritates me when people dont know how to say excuse me or thank you. i mean this is not so hard to say this courtesy words. they will ask something then after you answering they will just turn their back on you... wow. or you are in front and carrying something heavy then they will bump you and just look at you wow.

I hope that kind of ignorance disappears soon. I think that's the result of the "feel good" generation that was born in the 70's when the hippies were fading but the "if it feels good do it" and "I'm ok, you're ok and anything we want to do or say is ok" generation was born. I despise the disappearance of common courtesy! I noticed, though, that it's more prevalent in the western United States than nearly anywhere else. I lived in Arizona for a couple of decades and recently moved back home to the midwestern section. What a change!! People are so much more polite!

I have lots of them, but one which really stands out is when people shout close to me, like they call a friend at the other side of the street, or a vendor shouting to attract customers, and so on. I also hate people who cut me in a waiting line...I'd really freak out if this happens. In some cases, I can control myself, but there are really times that I'd simply flare up, and I regret later. I am generally a forgiving person so at times I just keep my peace so as not to cause trouble. There's already too much trouble in this world; I wouldn't like to add to it...

Sounds like your pet peeves could be eliminated if people would have some manners! But I like your attitude--you're right, there's no need to add to the trouble in the world. Your goodness in controlling yourself is good karma!

Me, neither! It's irritating to get up and immediately be assaulted with "good morning!" and you're expected to respond. I want to be left alone to wake up!
