rice is carbohydrates...if you eat too much, you will really get fat. on the other hand, it is better than bread, because bread has sugar, lard, or sometimes butter. i started dieting 3 weeks ago and lost considerable weight. i let go of rice, bread, other forms of carb and sugar. and in two weeks, i lost 8 lbs! isn't that amazing. yeah, carb can make us fat if we take too much of it. but at the same time, we also need carb, because they provide our body with needed energy. just not too much okay? :)

Rice is a good source of carbohydrates. I am also a rice eater. But I'm pretty skinny. I guess it's because I am really active, not to mention I have a high metabolism, so I burn calories quite fast. Don't deprive yourself of the nutrients your body needs. Maybe you just need to burn the calories more by exercising.

Rice does not have a lot of fat, but some brands have more calories than you think they would. Also, white rice is not good for you only whole grain brown rice because the white has a high sugar (carb) level.

Eat rice with vegetable only. Don't eat rice with meat or seafood. If you want to eat seafood or meat or chicken, eat it with vegetable.

I didn't hear about rice and its high fat contents, but I do know that left over rice has more sugar than the freshly cooked rice. So if you eat rice everyday (like I do), I suggest you always have it freshly cooked.

My dietishian told me not to eat rice as it makes my bloodsugar level rise too much too fast. That is not good if you want to loose weight. So I do not eat much rice anymore. Must be months since I last had any.

Dear Nandhini, You are from India isn't it? Why do you get this doubt? Rice does not have fat only carbohydrtaes. We all eat at the maximum 2 meals a day ie rice twice a day. that too if you are a south Indian. If you are a north indian you would prefer to have wheat. Don't bother. All are same. We need starch for our daily energy. So you can rice but bring down the amount if you do not want to put on weight. Reduce your carbs intake and add more vegetables and fruits to your diet. All the best

Try switching to brown rice. It has more fiber which helps to balance out the carbs.

Here in my country we are also rice eaters- we love it. It contains carbohydrates that is needed by our body to produce energy. It makes you fat if you eat too much of it and is not burn by your body. I think any foods when you eat them too much will get you to acquire additional pounds in your weight. =)

You know the best rice is brown it is very good for the body, yes it does cost a bit more, but is worth every bite and your body will thank you for it.

Have some fruits before your meal, you'll find yourself filling so you might not be eating as much rice as you normally do.
