How Does Kristy Lee Cook Keep On Surviving?

Honestly, is everyone as shocked as I am? For the last 3 weeks in a row, she has been in the bottom 2, but somehow is found SAFE every week. I am not sure how she is squeaking by. Maybe there are people out there that like her, but when David Hernandez went last week, and then Amanda Overmeyer went this week before her, I am wondering what is going on here? I like Kristy and all, but she in my opinion is one of the weaker links in Idol.
What are some of your thoughts? Were you as suprised as I was, or do you think things have been going OK? Does the last 2 weeks of Eliminations change some of your thoughts on who will be in the Final 6? Final 4? I know this sure surprizes me. Some of my favorites are gone, while a couple are still left. So the Best is yet to come. But makes me wonder what Surprizes are in store next?

i agree with you. she is beautiful, fit for a Ms. Universe contestant but not for idol. when david hernandez was booted out last week i think it was because of personal reason. a lot of fans out there was turned off of his before job.... i still believe that there are more guys who will make the final 6 than girls.

Well, I continue to wonder how she is still there. Must be some Men out there who like her? But personally, she is the weakest link, and holding everyone else down. Once she is gone we will really start to see what the Idols are made of.

I have to say that I agree with you and am very surprised. I think she has made it this far because people may find her cute.
I don't think Kristy has stepped it up enough and it is time for them to let her go.

I think that people truly are missing the Boat here, and if she continues to stay in there over some of the other contestants, we will really begin to wonder what the deal is.

It is amazing how except for when she Sings country she is not a Great singer at all, and still stays in. It is also Sad when a little rumor knocks you out as well even when you could have won it all, or at least been in the Top 10.

Yes that is really sad. Now, I'm not even sure it they've got eliminated because they've got the lowest number of votes or was it American Idol's producers decision. I've heard a rumor regarding that before, they want them out because as they say AI is a family show or something like that.

I was actually quite surprised that Amanda and Carly were at the bottom 3 this week. I was rooting for Kristy to leave this week. I suffered from hearing her last week's performance over and over in my head! Her voice was ringing in my ears even if I tried not to think about it. I don't know why she keeps on surviving. Maybe this is a popularity contest and those who gets weaker won't get booted off because of this.

I am also hoping that next week the performances will improve. Maybe I ought to put the tube on mute when Kristy sings...yes, that's a great idea!
No offense meant to Kristy fans, I just don't like her performance.

I know, she should be gone!! Every time she sings she is horrible. I'm sure she should be gone next week, hopefully. Maybe it is the country people out there keeping her in. She is the only one this year.

She survives for three or four reasons. She has a large fan base. She is unique enough among the others to get votes by people who want to see things out of her like she did last night. Last don't discount the pretty blond status. There are plenty of us who feel you should vote pretty, because if you are going to have the winner's horrible album thrust upon us that we should atleast have someone pretty to look at.

I have wondered and thought the very same thing. Espically after 2 times in a row and also last night. Now Amanda I am not a big fan of but Asia and David Hernandez. I liked both of them on there. I guess she must have someone still voting for her which I don't understand why.

I agree with you 100%. I thought Amanda was a strong contestant we all know she is more into the rock style of Janis Joplin and IMO had a good show presentation. I have never liked Kristy and she is so blah, no real voice or stage personality. It sounds very fishy to me that she should still be there but as you say the best is yet to come.

You echoed mine and hubby's sentiments with your comment, "How does Kristy Lee Cook keep surviving?" We too are dumbfounded as to how she has squeeked by for three weeks in a row after being in the bottom each time! I haven't liked her voice and 'style' from the beginning, but of course it is a matter of personal taste. I couldn't belive that Carly was in the bottom three, that was absurd! Sadly, it seems that American Idol ends up being more of a popularity contest than a talent contest, with folks making it to the top due to having a big 'following.' I have a feeling that the teeny-boppers dictate who is in the top 10 by calling in for whom they feel is 'hot' rather than who is talented!

I don't get it either. After they announce that Amanda was leaving, Kristy was hugging her and while you couldn't see what she was saying to Amanda, I could read Amanda's lips and she was saying, "it's ok, it's ok" I bet Kristy was telling her that SHE should have been the one to go. Then she turns to go to the "safe" couch and she looks right in the camera and says "thank you". She is so superficial and I can't stand her! If she doesn't go next week, I'm going to stop watching! (well, maybe not, but I'll press mute when she comes on!)

I actually enjoy Kristy Lee Cook. She simply hasn't had the opportunity to showcase her strength in country music,yet. She could be the next Shania Twain.
You wouldn't expect an opera singer to be a great rock singer would you?

I am a fan of her vocals. But, something about her personality bugs me a bit...I haven't quite put my finger on it. And in the past couple of weeks, she just has been more...amateurish and "corny" as Simon likes to say. Even though I liked her (vocally) from day one...yes, I agree she should have gone this week.

I am in complete agreement here!! Kristy just doesn't have what it takes to be on Idol and every time someone else leaves instead of her, my jaw hits the floor! There have been others that defintely have deserved to stay while she left and it's a shame. I think it's turned more into a beauty pageant than a singing competition at times.

She is in because she is cute! I agree with the rocker being booted I didn't understand half of what she sang, but yep Kristy is there because she is cute.
Now maybe next week she will leave who knows. There are only 2 left that aren't that good and it is Kristy and Syesha. The rest are very talented with stronger voices.
Looking forward to next week (no more Beetles songs)

I'm surprised too. I liked Amanda. I have a feeling vote for the worst is back into play. It's horrible that someone would purposely vote for the worst. If you don't like the show don't watch it. Stop trying to sabatoge it.

Surpried that Kristy Lee is still there? A litle bit. Surprised that Amanda went before her? Not at all. I'm surprised Amanda made it into the top 12. Then again, Vote For The Worst was backing her so...
Kristy Lee is forgettable. When asked who was left in the competition, I always had a hard time remembering her. I'm sure she'll be gone soon. I think even Simon said she was among those he considered deadwood and should be gone within the next few weeks.
She could be the new pick for Vote For The Worst.
