Government agencies with overseas head offices

My husband has had to atted an interview today at a centre which is run by the government. Half way through the doctor received a phone call and asked us if we would mind if he took the call as it was from overseas. We said we didn't mind and after the call the doctor said the call was from head office which was overseas. Do you think the government is behaving responsibly by allowing head offices of their organisations to be based overseas? One point, which my be positive, is that the overseas people may not lose as much data.

If it is a British government office I don't think it makes any difference where it is located, I would still not trust them not to lose the data.

No I do not think it is at all but many places have their Headoffices over Sea I do not understand why I mean they are a UK Company so why are they in a different Country

I suppose it's because it's cheaper to run that way. But it's bad enough when private companies are allowed to do this. For a government agency to do it is truly disgusting.

I think instead of rewarding these companies for taking their business out of the country, they should penalize them instead. They only take them out of the country to save money, and it IS affecting our economy, as well as our workforce. If it's an American based company, then corporate offices should be here...not someplace else!

I am in Britain but the effects are the same and I was disgusted that the government were using an overseas base.

I don't think the government ever behave responsibly do they? I think that the government should have head offices for everything in the country they're supposed to be running, they should be supplying jobs for the people of THEIR own country and not to some random person who lives half way across the world. It's no wonder the economy is in tatters with a government like this one. (I vote Carol McGiffin for prime minister!)

I don't think that is good at all. The government are doing that to cut costs but still increase inflation, council, etc for us. There are so many government drives to get people into /back into work but it's rather hypocritical when they are trying to get people into work but even their own offices are based outside the UK.

How can they expect companies to stay here when their own agencies are located abroad? You're right, they have all these back to work campaigns and forget that the jobs are mostly being sent abroad.
