sending out little prayers for strangers you meet

Do you ever send out a little prayer for some stranger you have passed in a shopping center for example? I often see strangers who look like they are worried or in pain and I send out alittle prayer to God to watch over them and help them and free them from pain. Sometimes it is a child with MS who is in a wheelchair and I send out a prayer that she will get better or a badly crippled older lady who seemsto have trouble walking I willsend out a prayer to God to help her. Am I being an idiot or is this something that others might do?

Hi Hatlet, I certainly don't think you are being an idiot. You feel like you want to help someone and that is great. Since it done in silence you are not trying to attract any attention to yourself. Blessings.

I do that too, I believe that prayers do help in a little way. You are not crazy but a person with a very kind heart. God does listen and I think sometimes when something good happens to us and we say what did I ever do to desrve this in first place , Its that the prayer made for us by some stranger like you that has turned our cloudy day in to the one filled with bright sunshine.I wish we had more people like you on this earth.

I sometimes do, Patsie. Mostly when I read the papers and you know, there are tons of depressing news out there. I will just say things to the effect of "God bless you", "May things turn out alright for you" and the kind. You are not an idiot. Sending your positive thoughts will help them. It may not prevent an avalanche but sometimes it may previous that tiny rock from moving just that quarter inch that might just prevent that avalanche. A positive thought alone may not be worth much alone but everything adds up. Keeping radiating positivity!

lordwarwizard I am sure he is too as sometimes when I am down or troubled I hear a sort of inner voice that sounds like his saying it will all come out in the wash. Now that was his standard reply to me when I was fretting about something.

hmm, not only shopping center, I believe. mostly when I'm on the bus, I would make a silent prayer so everyone who have ever become the bus' passengers would be saved, would come home (to their family) safe too, and that the driver and the door guard would be blessed during the day. no, I don't think it's idiot thing to do, so you are not an idiot, but I would find that yeah, some people do it, some others might feel we are just wasting time by doing that. however, probably it wasn't us that wanted to pray for them, I think if GOD's Spirit had not put the empathy within us, how would we feel moved to make a silent prayer for those people? just think about this, we might not even the ones who prayed for any strangers, perhaps even some strangers prayed for us unknowingly, we just never know, right? how would you call those strangers who prayed for you? I would call them "the blessings". that's what I would call you too for being inside the list of "these blessings"

No, it's definitely not making an idiot out of you. It's showing wisdom. It is a noble act. God will definitely be pleased if your heart's purpose is always the well being of others. You're doing the right thing.

I'm so proud of you my friend. Indeed, God does not need anything from us, nor He gets any favor from us when we pray. All he needs is our gratitude. It's good that you are grateful to God. He likes that attitude. Keep it up.

Well, i have done this too many times too, i guess they could use a little prayer and i think it is not too bad to offer a big help through a little prayer. :D It is not being idiot of course. You are doing very well as someone who believes in the power of God.

I do it too. Or I'm watching the news about a terrible situation and I just start praying for them. I'm not even thinking what will come of it, I just think that that may be all I can do, so why not do it.

No you aren't being an idiot! It may not be everyone's cup of tea but there is nothing wrong with you sending out silent prayers for strangers. I tend to do the same thing...and especially for firefighters and the family when I hear of a house fire (we have a police scanner) and also for accident victims when I hear about one of them.

Yes Hatley I also do the same thing what you do. I have also had several experience of praying for those we pass by. It shows your real concern for them and your kind heartedness. My belief is that your this single line will be recognised and God hears us. Do continue to do this

if you are an idiot thenthat makes us two. if saying a little prayer for someone who we thin needs it is wrong then i dont know what is right already. i also light a candle and pray if someone is sick whether he is a relative or not. some of the mylot members are asking for prayers and i do help in my own little way by saying a little prayer and lighting a candle for a speedy recovery

Well God bless you. I don't think enough people do these things and you are so very empathetic to take the time to even notice others around you. I must confess that I,too, often am so busy with my own trivial thoughts that I don't do this. I vow to be more attentive from now on. I feel ashamed of myself. Thank you for making me stop and think. Happy Easter.
