Spring has sprung here in Texas, at least where I live. You know spring has arrived when you start hearing mocking birds, see a road runner and the mesquite tree starts to bud. I don't think we'll have anymore cold days here. The peach trees are covered in blooms. So are the apricot trees. Yep, Spring has sprung in Texas. How 'bout where you live? What's a sure sign for you?

Spring in Colorado can still be on the cool side. It snowed this morning, a very wet snow that was all gone quickly, but left good moisture in the ground. The finches are back at the bird feeders and the squirrels have come out of hibernation. Tulips, hyacinths and daffodils are up but not blooming yet. The trees are mostly all budding out.

Today I saw a hummingbird. It was getting what it could from some brand new leaves on the mulberry tree, which has been bare all winter. With spring comes new life -- and time to get the swamp cooler ready for summer. Another sure sign is temperature in the 80s and I'm not ready to leave the cold behind.

The sure sign for me here in Nevada was when the blossoms came out on the trees. This is our first spring here and it was a pleasant surprise. With all the palm trees around here, somehow I didn't expect blossoms. I haven't seen the crocuses, tulips and daffodils I used to love back east. Now that really was spring to me. I think I did see a mockingbird this week by the way - hubby identified it for me the noisy old bird. haha really the bird, not hubby. whit
