I am right handed ,and due to a surgery i had on my left shoulder today ,my left arm is out of commission for now, and because of this, i just noticed how much more i use my left hand then my right hand even though i'm right handed,i never realized it until today ,how many more things i use and do better with my left hand then my right hand ,its been driving me crazy all day, when i got hurt and knew i needed surgery , i said to my self , well at least i did'nt hurt my right arm, thinking i would get by better ,only to find out that i was wrong and would have been better off hurting my right arm, has this happened to any of you out there ? and if not ,if you are right handed try and not use your left for a while ,and if left handed try not to use your right for a while and i think you will be surprised at the outcome..

Actually once a limbs injured ( no matter which one ) you'll start noticing how much you used it for ( not to mention you seem to bump it against everything ). If your right handed it would have actually been worse, it just doesn't seem like it right now. There's nothing to bring everything it does to mind like the left has at the moment. Hope the surgery helped.

I am sorry to hear about what happened to you. Hope you feel better soon..Anyways, It is true that even though we are right handed we also need our left hand. It is very useful together and it is really tiring to use just one hand or arm. When I type I use both hand and when I lift something...For me, together is better than alone.

I hope you have a speedy recovery and sorry to hear this. However, I am not sure if I could help you, never have been in a situation like that. I am actually ambidextrous. I write and throw with my left but not with my right. I eat and use scissors with my right but not with my left. So if I injured my right for instance, I am not sure if i could cut or use a fork properly, and if I injured my left I couldn't play ball with my kids and my writing would be MUCH worse than it is now. Anyway enough of that, get well soon.

Right handed person will remain to be using his/her right hand more often than using his/her left. The anatomy and physiology of the human body when it comes to body mechanics is being influenced largely by the right and left hemisphere of the brain... It would be much relevant to stick to the fact and or knowledge that a right handed man has been actively using the left hemisphere of his/her brain while the left handed has his/her right hemisphere functioning more than the left side of the brain...

I am right handed, but I do use my left hand quite a lot, especially if my right hand is busy then my left hand quite often comes in and saves the day!! I hope your shoulder gets better soon though.

You are right. Even I am right handed. We realize the value of things or people only when its away from us. Its really hard to imagine working one hand! Both hands are equally important.

I am left handed but still can I drop my notes? LOL. I used both arms together. I maybe left handed but I used the right arms a lot. When I write on the board, I am right handed but if I write on paper, I am using my left hand. When I use some things, my right hand handles it more than my left. Maybe, it's coincidence and maybe it's because we are used to it. The one who taught us also had some influence to it. My mom is left handed, it was she who home school me in my younger days so maybe that made me left handed. My dad taught me how to do some other things like cleaning up or fixing some things and he is right handed so that one maybe made me right handed when I do those things. Haha! Just my loud guess!

Being right handed, I use my right hand for every thing. And especially more now, since I nearly cut off one of my fingers on my left hand, it messed up all the nerve endings in my hand, so I can't do much with it now. Typing is about the only thing.

By any chance did you have a shoulder joint replacement on your left shoulder? the reason I ask is two years ago I fell and broke my left shoulder badlyand had to have surgery and a bionic replacement put in so now I cannot lift my left arm more than ten or eleven inches and I have found that I always used my left arm and hand a lot and I do mean a lot. and yes I have begun to think I might have been better off to have injured my right shoulder. I had months of therapy but it did not seem to do a whole heck of a lot for me.

I had surgery on my left wrist a number of years ago and was thinking the same thing, that at least it wasn't my right/dominant hand. I don't think I missed having use of my left so much as having use of only one hand period. Some things you just need two hands for! I couldn't even pull up my drawers after visiting the bathroom - my sons had to help me. They were good sports about it all and helped take care of poor decrepid Mom. Their Dad was another story entirely.

I write with my right hand...but i can with my left hand as well. On the other side of things i tend to pick things up with my left and put them into my right hand to carry so my left hand is free to pick up things open doors etc. I also tend to do alot more things with my left hand than my right...such as feed myself if i ever had to just feed myself with my right hand i SWEAR id lose lots of weight cause i would miss my mouth way to much. (hmmm new diet idea right hand only)

I am right handed too,we konw that right hand is controlled by the left side of our cerebrum, and the left hand is controlled by the right side of our cerebrum.I was puzzled, why can we use left hand do something the same as right hand, but sometimes we can't do the same things with our left hand. Many left handed can use their right hand do the same things with their left hand. Why do right handed can't use left hand as free as left handed use their right hand?I can use my left hand to cut my nail with a scissor, but can't write with left hand.I can't explain these...

I write with both hands. Most people think I'm left handed because of the slant of my letters. Hope that you mend quickly.

that is interesting, mrpippo. hmmm. I am pretty sure that I use my right hand more often than the left - except for when I am typing in which case I would say I use them fairly equally.

I am a right handed person but I'm also aware of the importance of my left hand. It always supports the right hand in its functions like when I lift big things, the left hand is there to balance the weight. When I eat, the right hand for the spoon or knife and the left for the fork. Each one is there to assist and support each other. I guess that's the reason why God gave us two hands and lucky for us who have two hands.

I'm right handed, Right hand does have the priority when I do something. I do Writing, eating, with right hand. My right arm is stronger than my left one. because I always use right hand first. You said that you're do things better when you used your left hand.maybe you're just left handed.
