Mornings are not my thing

Since I started working I have been lucky enough to have worked mostly 9:45-6. So far I haven't had to close the store, which would mean getting off at about 9 or later at night. I'm not a morning person, at least not a really early in the morning kind of girl. I don't like getting up at 4 or 5a. So having to be at 9:45 in the morning works for me. I had a job at a hospital where I worked second shift. Of course, at that time, I was only 19. The problem with working second shift was just as I was going to work my friends were starting to get fired up for the evening ahead and I had to suck it up and go to work until 11 at night. Now it wouldn't matter so much, because I don't party like I did when I was 19. If you had your choice of shifts on a job, which one would you prefer and why?

I am NOT a morning person, mornings are the worst time for me, I am grumpy, grouchy and cannot function properly that is why I have always chosen jobs with shift patterns and will always choose the afternoon or evening shifts so I can lie in and be nice and fresh. Mornings are unsocial to me and the benefit of working nights is that you get extra money for unsocial hours, yet unsocial to me is getting up before 9am of a morning! Besides you miss the rush hour if you do shift work!

No one in my house likes me too much early in the morning. I hate to be woken up, I'd much rather do it on my own and I like being able to take my time to get ready for work. I don't like to rush around to get anything done, especially getting ready for work. Hate it!

If (we may homeschool)or when my youngest daughter starts school; I think I would like to work daytime hours. I have never held a job that were normal day hours. I had my first child at 19 and during the times that I held a job I had to work around my husband's job. So I always had to work in the evenings. I hated that because I felt like I was missing out on all the family time. Right now I don't work. I haven't worked since the beginning (morning sickness phase) of my last pregnancy.

For me too mornings are not my thing.Given a choice of shifts at work, I definitely choose one that starts at 12 Noon. Because it is easier to go to work at that without any traffic troubles. I can work till the boss leaves. In normal course though the timings are 10 am to 5 pm,we will be working an extra 1 to 2 hours that would never get counted.

I get up every morning so that I can have a day. I wake up at 6:00-6:30 every morning. I am not much of a morning person either, but I want to start my day, so I wake up early.

I also am not a morning person but its not because of any job I have to get up early. When you have to get your kids ready for school you have no option but to get up early. This is why I have taught them to sleep in some during the weekends so I can catch up lol.

I would prefer to be at work when my kids were at school so I got more time with them but if not for that I would far rather work afternoons/evenings! i am more alert in the late afternoon and evening so this would be perfect for me! xxx

I am also not a morning person... and this is one of the minor reasons why i decided to stop teaching... when i was still a teacher... i had to wake up at 5 in the morning... so it means i had to sleep early at night which means again that i cannot go out or even watch a lot of tv... So my current work is really nice because there is no need for me to be in the office very early... and i can go home when i already finished all the things that needs to be done...

I have been doing 2nd shift on weekends for years now. For the longest time it was the best for my kids as they went with thier dad for the weekend and so I got my time off during the week. It was horrible on my social life...pretty much cancelled it out. Now that my girls are grown and older...i'd like to change. Now its a matter of finding a job that pays as well and that I like. I'm in a rut for sure. Like you....I sure as heck could not go from 2nd shift to getting to work at 5am. As it is it is tough for me to crawl out of bed at 6;30 am and run my daughter to school

I am not a morning person either! I hate the morning. I yawn at it, I squint at it, I even curse at it! I hate hate hate it! I have to get up at 7:45 in the am and it sucks! The hubby and I are both not morning people and on the weekends, we are in the habit of sleeping late...10 or 11 am. But, this past weekend, we decided that we would set the alarm for 9:30 and get up and going earlier. So, we did. And, we were pretty proud of ourselves as we actually stuck to it. I think that we will be doing that from now on...even though 9:30 is still to early on a weekend! LOL! Oh...and I forgot, I mentally flip the morning the bird every day! LOL!

I couldn't stay in bed if I wake up in the morning so I think I am a morning person. And so, I can work in the early morning. I work in a factory of electron on Monday to Friday between 8:00 to 17:00. In the morning, I go to breakfast store to earn my second money. I have to do this not only because I have to support my family, but also I am a working person. I like working from my heart. I could gain the success from my work.

I have been a night person all my life but I found that working nights, I was working while all my friends were off, I couldn't go out with them especially a friday night and so I took as many day shifts as I could get.

I have always liked working later shifts myself. They seem to go smoother to me then working day shifts and not near as crowded also.

I am not a morning person either. Actually... I hate mornings. My favourite shift is 11AM to 7PM. And that is the shift I worked my whole life as I was self-employed.
