why does obama get a pass for his racist affiliation of 20 years?? and if it was a white candidate with the same affiliations and record as obama,he/her would be crucified.whats the difference between david dukes affiliations and obamas?why do we not judge obama by the very words he used to judge don imus??

First, you are assuming that the 30 second clip that you saw of Rev. Wright was all he ever preached. You clearly have not done any research to see what Rev. Wright's sermons typically consisted of - or else you would realize that he really isn't racist at all. He said words out of anger. Obama didn't stop going to church just because his pastor said something he didn't agree with - also the comments being played in the media were spoken shortly before Rev. Wright's retirement. The point is - you DO NOT stop going to a church you believe in because you don't agree with the pastor. If you truly believed in that church you would disagree with the comments - as Obama has done - but continue to attend. You have to seperate the beliefs of the church from the opinions of the pastor. Something that people just can't seem to do.

One other thing - you can't compare Don Imus to Obama - the two situations are nothing alike. Don Imus said something racist, Obama did not.

Cheesehater, why not take the kindness to demonstrate the point to him then?

The first problem with whatyou are saying - Rev. Wright did 3 sermons a week. The sermon you are referring to is one of THOUSANDS of sermons. Your basing your entire opinion on this one moment. How about the letter Rev. Wright wrote to a white woman who was considering calling of her engagement based on the fact that her fiance was black? He wrote her a letter telling her not to let race get in the way of what was right. Obama clearly stated he had not attended that sermon nor seen it before it was shown to the media - and if he had he would've made it clear that he didn't agree with his pastor. So when Obama was made AWARE of the sermon he DID distance himself from what had happened. In the end what concerns me more is McCain lying about his associations with Paxton media than Obama's association with his pastor. Tell me this - why did McCain state that he had never associated with anyone from Paxton, but in fact had a meeting with Lowell Paxton in 1999? He did some VERY shady things in regards to Paxton and that concerns me more than ANYONE'S religious leader.

Another one of these topics.. Well, I'm just going to keep it short this time around. Lisan has pretty much said most of my thoughts. Obama has clearly said that he did not wish to be associated with his pastor's divisive statements; http://www.iht.com/articles/2008/03/18/america/18obamaspeech.php?page=2

Right. So the fact that he has clearly said he didn't agree with his pastor's statement isn't good enough?

Then I'm guessing you still didn't read his speech?

I don't wish to be associated with some of the things I have done in my lifetime either! Consequently I or Barak Obama don't get to slough it off that easily!

Only a small percentage of society considers Obama or Wright racist and its either the biased (voting republican no matter what) or the uninformed (youtube does not count as research sorry). Its unfortunate that 30 seconds from youtube can define 30 years of preaching and doing good in the community. In the meantime, preachers like Hagee, Falwell, and Parsely (just to name a few) who actively preach hate from the pulpit, is not an issue at all and never is. Who's really getting the pass here?

So based on your comments, I would assume that you wouldn't mind if I told white people to stop serving black people at stores and restaurants. I've done a lot for the community. I've volunteered and helped terminally ill children at Give Kids the World. I've done a lot of good things. Does that give me a free pass to be a racist and preach racism? Does that negate any racist things I may do? According to you and the other Obama fanatics we are supposed to ignore Wright's racism because he has "supposedly" done so much for the community.

Problem is, Jormins, that while McCain can't control who publicly supports him, Obama CAN control where he goes to church and who he listens to! Try looking at those 30 seconds again and watch the people in the background NOT pastor Wright and his obscene gestures(in a house of God I might add)and you will see a bunch of folks who are not hearing this for the first, second, or even third time! These people have embraced and in fact agree with this philosophy of hate from this pastor and they hear it Sunday after Sunday! Actually Rodney, (and I know I am repeating myself on this) McCain SOUGHT THE ENDORSEMENTS of these people. So yes he CAN CONTROL whether they endorse him or not. The Wright issue is is ridiculous and only shows how flawed your candidate is on the major issues: the economy and Iraq/Iran. You refuse to read facts from unbiased websites but you have time to scan the background of the youtube blips for obscene gestures in the crowd. Perhaps you should write to the United Christian Church and get this "Church of Hate" kicked out. I don't think the 99% white UCC is even worried about the TUCC, strange based on all the 'facts' I see about the TUCC. You'd think they'd get rid of these racists wouldn't you? Or perhaps the church is not racist at all and McCain supporters are only seeing/hearing what they want to see.
