A little Music Input?

I don't think I'll get too many responses, because this isn't a 'normal' music question people usually have. I'm interested in music where there is no singing. Probably piano music, jazz like, soulful, perhaps the saxophone, but no Kenny G. Sometimes I would like to hear Michael Buble's music without the singing just for the music. When I was a child, my mom would play Jo Ann Castle's piano music to help me go to sleep. I don't know if anyone has heard of her, it WAS a long time ago. I kind of just want some music to relax to when I feel sick, or am trying to go to sleep. I don't want any singing, just the music. So even Enya doesn't count. Any suggestions would be wonderful.

How about the elegant and serene beauty of Mozarts music ?" It helps me when I feel ill or stressed out his music has it all soul charm even wit at times. I remember Jo Ann Castles music and the Lawrence Welk show well. it was my favorite show althoughmy husband did not likeit. but Mozart and Chopin are really my favorites for relaxing by

Actually when I am relaxing I like to listen to a little Indian music it is so relaxing how the flues and other instruments mingle with each other. Off the top of my head one called Stan SnakeDawn of Love It is very soothing atleast for me. Others might not think so or agree but we are all different thankfully.

There are sections at Wal-Mart where they have the relaxation music. Most of that is all instruments without words. I know they have some that are with all instruments but also some with just piano, harp, or flutes. For myself I have one CD of Zamfir, he plays the pan flute and it's all just the music without lyrics. It's beautiful to listen to. I also like classical music like Mozart. This often times is just the orchestra playing and that can be very relaxing. One other thing to check for is perhaps the sound track to Fantasia.

You're welcome and I hope you have some luck in finding some you like. I know for myself I love listing to soft music while going to bed. It can really make a difference in how quickly I fall asleep.

Its completely normal to me as different people have different taste in music. For me it depends on my mood , if i am in an energetic mood i prefer listening to heavy speed metal like C.O.B, Arch enemy..etc. Different people have different tastes and listening to instrumentals is very professional. I also listen to instrumental a lot but mostly melodic staffs played by guitar and at times pan pipe organ musics are also very romantic. So, to me you have a good taste in music and you must be proud of it.

Thank you. I think some of the most powerful songs are the ones that are solely music, no lyrics.

My friend gave me this cd for Christmas one year, and it's been a while since I listened to it, but I liked it a lot. Its guitar music, not piano, called Peculiaroso by Leo Kottke. You can go on Amazon and listen to samples to see if it's something you might like. Santana also has some instrumental albums out. I used to listen to something called nature sounds that I downloaded off the internet, and I liked to put that on when I had trouble falling asleep.

Thanks for the tips! I usually listen to a lot of music without singers around Christmas time, but I want to be able to enjoy that kind of instrumental music all year long. It relaxes me for the day, not just for sleeping.

Lifescapes has a whole CD collection of music that's very relaxing and yes just music...I have a few I got from my nearby Target..Here's their website...there's a spot where you can even listen to some of the different CDs to see if you like them http://www.compassmusic.com/ Also there's music on the label Windham Hill, though now taken over by BMG music that's also terrific and calming

I love listening to the CDs that have the rain and storms and sometimes the oceans and winds and with nature, But not the ones with music added to them. Nothing better to fall asleep to the pitter patting of the rain on something. Puts me right to sleep.

Mm, unfortunately I don't really have any suggestions. I'm also a lover of piano {and also the stringed instruments, like the violin & cello} but unfortunately I also like to sing along/listen to lovely voices so I don't have any instrumental suggestions. I know there are some pianists that will cover popular songs/artists using just the piano. I have a copy of the My Chemical Romance 'Black Parade' that's like that, it's just the album, only in the form of a Piano tribute. It's calming, soothing, beautiful, whereas the regular album is a bit more active, almost angry sounding. You might be able to find something like that, but unfortunately I don't know the name of the cover artists I have that just play the piano for other tracks. Fooey. If I remember, I'll be sure to let you know. [album was burned for me by a friend, and they didn't give me the artist's name, just a track list]

I personally love classical guitar music. So relaxing and usually not to many changes in pace to wake your brain back up - "what was that?" kind of thing.

I also enjoy Instrumental music, I like traditional spanish - flamenco songs(with no singer) and celtic music(fiddle, low-whistle, etc). I have friends who like piano, jazz and blues(that I also think you would like), one of the even playes the sax, and they all liked the flamenco and celtic songs once I revealed the genre to them(must be something in how the music is composed that attracts jazz and blues listeners/musicians to it). So for you I recommend these traditional spanish songs: Leyenda/Asturias, Malanguena, Noche Clara. And also a great guitar player who plays Gypsy Jazz - Django Reinhardt(plays alot of instrumental).

I listen to a lot of instrumental stuff, although not necesarily of the jazz variety. Most of it is synthesized, but very realxing. Among my favorites are Vangelis, Liquid Mind (perfect relaxation music. The sleeves of their CD's actually discuss the relaxing power of their music), and Amethystium...good luck in the search

There's lots of "instramental" music out there. Go to the library and see if you can find stuff you like. then go online and pick up one or 2 so you have some all the time. Join Amazon.com and put some that you think you'll enjoy on your wish list and tell people to get things off your wishlist if they want to give you a gift.
