I has been here in Dalian (a coastal city of China)for almost two years. The people I acquainticed are all my colleagues. But you know, colleague is not equal to friend. So sometimes I have to phone my old friends far away from me to get some comfort. What aout you? Are you far away from your hometown or your familiar circumstance? How do you escape the lonely life?

I can understand your feelings. When I first moved to Adelaide, a city of 1 million people, I came from a country town of 17,000. I found it lonely at first. But I made friends at work. I would invite them to my place for coffee, & they would invite me to theirs for a meal. Is there a sporting club you could join? Or maybe a chess club?

i am a student in Chongqing. i have friends and classmates around me, so usually i don't feel lonely. but anyway, everyone has his own lonely time. solitude sometimes really does good to us. maybe you can cultivate some hobbies to spend your free time. i love reading and surfing the internet. do what you're interested in can make you happy. :) and maybe you can try to make new friends in Dalian. if you don't mind, i'd like to be your friend. hehe.

I am very fortunate in that I do not live in a foreign city, I have lived here in Montreal all of my life so I am very fortunate to have all my friends around me. I am sorry that you are lonely it is really hard to make new friends in a strange city.

We moved about 45 miles from where I am actually from. I do not miss it but I really do not like where we live now either. I don't have any friends either other than the ones that I have online. I feel lonely all of the time too. I do have a husband and a daughter to keep me company sometimes though.

Hi Sprout-fortunatley I live in the country though my family do live in the city,we do see each other as often as possible but i could never live in the city-there is only one place i will go when i feel the need for a burst of energy and uplifting and that is a place called Glastonbury in the UK-it is a place where you can be yourself and being a pagan their is 95% pagans there so it is nice to meet up with those like minded-littleowl
