Do you agree with a Ban on Bongs?

Our Government introduced a new law last night. The sale of cannabis bongs from any shop or market is banned. So are hookahs, cocaine kits and pipes. There has been much opposition to this. Local opposition says that users will seek other ways to inhale smoke and that could be more dangerous. Many cannabis smokers say they will simply make their own pipes from household goods. In most cases that will involve smoking through plastic bottles... "which is obviously very unhealthy," Do you agree with the decision to ban the sale of bongs?

I guess I don't understand what they think they will accomplish with this./ People who already smoke that stuff already know how to make their own pipes or can borrow pipes. I don't believe that this would stop anyone from smoking anything.

I think it is but right for the government to ban the sale of cannabis bongs... since cannabis is illegal... then there should be no reason why bong should be sold commercially... i think it would be stupid if these items are available for all to buy... but the their main use is illegal... Those who smoke cannabis know that it is not good for their health... but if they are already addicted nothing will stop them... and the government should not tolerate this sort of thing...

That is the Governments reasoning. But many opposition say that people will just make their own bongs, & these can be unsafe. Many years ago my Father had a local shop closed for displaying bongs for sale in the front window, next to a large high school.

I think having you father's shope close down is unfair... they should have given him some sort of warning first...

I am not sure if I actually know what a bong is. It seems that these people will use whatever it takes to smoke what they are wanting to smoke. I say to go on and let them do it the healthy way, I guees because they are going to do it no matter what it seems.

they're right-people will just jury rig things. i've known people to make them with everything from soda cans to aircraft parts. i'm neutral on the issue, but unfortunetly people will switch to the other stuff instead.

I think the Government believed that had to be seen to be doing something, as useless as what this law may end up.

This is such a ridiculous waste of time on behalf of the government because you can smoke pot out of anything what are they going to do outlaw aluminum foil and the cardboard from toilet paper rolls? Also for years people have snorted coke using rolled up money as a straw what are they going to do outlaw money?

I don't think banning the sale of bongs will accomplish anything. As stated, if people are that determined to smoke, they'll rig up something themselves. It seems like yet another one of those measures designed to distract everyone from much more important issues and government's inability/difficulty to solve them.

The trouble is, the Government get so many complaints about shops selling implements, that they had to be seen to try & stop the sale of implements.
