Today my son will have his operation

Finally the day has come and my little man is having his operation. After so many years of seen doctors and health issues and waiting on a date finally in 8 hours time he would have it. When you think about it tonsils are not that big of a deal but my son has had nothing but trouble from them. They and the adnoids block his throat that none of the fluids can go pass them (from the nose and ears) for a very long time probably 2 years he had a runny nose every day he never breathes with his nose and his voice is nasal. If I say I am not scared I will be lying and you will know it in fact I am sh!ting my self. I have 4 toys for him that I got today and he does not know about them that I will give them to him in hospital and I hope they help a bit. Anyway I just wanted to get that of my chest.

I think it is normal for a parent to worry about any surgery no matter how small that our kids will go through. I think that the new toys will be a good distraction for him. How old id he?

you are right about the age of our kids and the fear as a parent. I was 26 when I had an operation and my parents were freaking out big time. The toys did their job he was very happy

I am sure he will be just fine. As a mother you are in every right to worry. Children tend to make us do that even if whatever it is isnt a big deal. I hope everything turns out for your little one. Keep us posted. God bless.

Last time he went under anastetic he was 2 years and 4 months and he had to have the front teets fixed as they had a white line on them caused my meds I took while pregnant. It was scary to see his body jerk the way it did when they put him under this time my husband is going in I dont think I can watch that again. I will write to tell you in 2 days time if I can depends how he is.

Oh your poor little man! My son is close to having his tonsils out too - they are wanting him to get tonsilitis once or twice more first. In a way I want them gone so he doesn't have to go through all that pain and sickness again and in another way I don't want to watch them take him into an operating theatre & have him come out sore & upset. I have a few friends who's children have had their tonsils out & the new toys worked a treat for them! I hope he recovers really fast!

I do not regret it 1 bit he is a changed person after this. Yes he would be in pain for few days but his whole life was afected. The tonsils are there to protect us but once they dont do their job its better off removing them. I was the same I was sick 24/7 when I was a small child after I had them taken out I only got sick as much as any other child which is like 1 a year.

to be honest with you it was worth it ( the operation that is) to see the change in him in just 30 min its amaizing. he went in at 8:45 they called us to the recovery room at 9:30 and I saw a different child. His oxigen level went from 70 something on bad days and 81 on good days to 99 5 min after the operation. whe he fell asleep it was quet in the room no more snoring and heavy breathing.

Amen to that no more snoring and runny nose and restrictions on going outside. I had a dream last night that has me confused today and makes me nervous. I saw a snake jumping to bite my son but only sprayed venum and I jumped on the snake with my legs just behind the head and was pleading for someone to kill it. Then some people came and released the snake telling me it wasnt dangerous. boy that was strange dream. But all day I keep thinking of it. hOpe its nothing bad.
