The use of tazers by Police is getting out of hand

Tazers which is a stun gun, used by police is really getting out of hand. There is a case here in Canada where a polish immigrant was tazered to calm him down so they say, and it killed him. There are several cases in the states as well where people have been tazered and died. Police will use tazers any where at any time. But these devices can be just as deadly as a gun. Another case was all over the news where a child who was out of control at a school was tazered. Now on the news I just saw that in vancouver people are getting tazered if they don't pay their bus fare. The police claim it is just another tool they have to use in their daily job, Enough is enough, these tazers can kill people and until you can prove to me that there is no more accidently deaths occurring from the use of these weapons, I am totally against them, What are your thoughts about tazers, should they be used by the police, and in what situations should they use them?

The police and others who use the tazers don't know if people have heart problems or pace makers before they use them I for one am against the use of them also. I don't think they should be used at all. Being tasered for bus fare? Oh my goodness what is the world coming to? That is the silliest thing I have ever heard. Why not just put them off the bus why hurt them for not having bus fare? Enough is enough as you say but will it be enough to stop them from using them? Probably not since alot of police love using them and use every possible reason to use them. I am hoping that they will learn to curb their usuage of them and stop killing people even if it is an accident sometimes. What if a woman was pregnat and not showing and it killed her unborn child..what then then they have excuses made up well this so and so broke the law..bus fare..sad to lose something so precious over something so stupid.

How many people would have to die before something is done about it? To many to count.

It is a form of police abuse and it will not stop until there is a public outcry against using these things. Apparently they love them, it makes their job so much easier.

I completely 100% agree with you on this one. More and more you hear of them tazering people for teh stupidest reasons. I can see if their life was in danger but most of these videos that come out show that there was no danger what so ever and they still tazered these people. I think these things should be recalled or against the law for anyone, INCLUDING THEM to use. I hate those things and I hate cops that think just because they're cops they can do ro get away with anything. It's our system that lets them too and that's the saddest thing about it...

yep they should be taken away, because the police are just getting lazy and tazering people for the least little thing.

Enough is enough, nothing! It is not the police's fault that they die. Who provoked the cop to use it? A taser is something that is used when one doesn't cooperate. You wrote that in Canada they tazered him to calm him down. Exactly, when one isn't calmed down they are what? Out of control, obtrusive. I am someone who dislikes the police due to brutality but I can't disagree with someone or something when I know the truth and do research. Comply with the police and they won't, for some people who believe it, abuse power, or others, be forced to use force.

sorry but when the police have used these tazers in every situation in stead of using what they did before knowing that people can die, not knowing if the person has a heart condition, or whatever, that is an abuse of authority. And I do not live in a police state. I do not live in nazi germany, or some harsher countries in the middle east. The tazers are shown time and again that they are not safe. So enough is enough.

When the police achieve more power then that only encourages others to detest them more due to the abuse of using that power that they have. As you say, enough is enough, as there are many other ways to apprehend suspects. Watching the news on tv with six police battering one person senseless on the ground makes me sick.

From having friends on the force here where I live, They are required to be tazed and pepper sprayed, tear gased, etc. themselves so that they can better judge a situation in where using non-lethal but painful force is needed. I dont know if they do this anywhere else, but from what they tell me, they think twice about using any kind of device like that because they really know how it feels. Some how tho, I dont think they do that all across america!

I'm tired of police using the tasers on students that are NOT resisting arrest and NOT being disorderly, but they just don't like what they have to say. It really has to stop. Where I attend school, the police carry them, but they can't carry them unless they've had one used on them to know what it feels like. I think a lot of people do not enforce this law and they just use them because they can and do not want to take the time to talk down a person or disperse them peacefully. They just want to taser them, drop them and be done with it.

I agree they just want to take the easy way out and tazer someone instead of trying other means first.

Oh Crap...This is all We need. We went through "The Troubles" Here in Northern Ireland through the 70's and the 80's and the controversy of "Non Lethal" Baton rounds/Rubber Bullets being used to control demonstrations and riots, which proved to be anything but..I'm not typing out a link if I can't cut and paste it..I did a search (News/Taser/PSNI) and find They're being trialled here as of January this year. watch this space..

I agree, they don't know if a person might have heart problems or something, i think they do just as good using pepper spray, at least it won't kill someone

I think these things are quite dangerous, I most certainly would not like to be stung by one!! I think that they should only be used in certain situations and not for just anything, when they first came out use was restricted on them.

and until they learn to use them properly they should still be restricted. It is just out of hand.

I live in Ohio and I have a friend who was 7months pregnate.Well she lived in an apartment complex and sometimes people got kind of rough there.A fight broke out and the cops were called when they arrived they had the tazors in hand.Well my friend was standing there tying to get the girls off each other and the cop thougt she was one of them fighting so he tazed her.Don't forger she is 7months preg. well to make a long story short her unborn child ended up dieing from the stress that taze caused. How F*&% up is that.I know she should have just waited till the cops got there but what would you do?You see two girls that youu have known since they were little kids, you bascialy helped raise them.Would you just let them go at it no I would have done the same thing. So yes I think cops are taking this way out of hand. There is a time and place to use these types of weapons.Pregnate women, kids aren't one of them.
