I grew up in a large family. I have three brother and three sisters. How about you? Do you have brothers and sisters or were you an only child?

You had a lot of cousins to play with. It's sad that you didn't get to meet your brother and sister.

I'm my dads only child. My mom unfortanally and my dad were both previously married not really by choice and my mom had my brother and sister and my dad never had children with his ex. I dont really know my brother and sister but that's a long story and heartbreaking too. So, in reality I say I'm an only child. That's basicly the truth.

It is sad you never got to be close to your brother and sister. But I know your dad must be proud to have a son.

I have only one sister, she's older than me by almost 7 years. Growing up, I learned to play by myself and use my imagination a lot. I have some cousins on my mother's side that I'm pretty close with, so it's alright. I guess, I sometimes felt like I had a lot of brothers and sisters but at the same time, I could also have some alone time when I needed it.

Strange enough, even though I had a lot of brothers and sisters I liked to play by myself a lot. I would play with the group sometimes but mostly I was quiet and liked to play by myself.

i'm the youngest in our family. i only have one brother who's alive. he used to have an identical twin but he passed away when he was only a month old. my mom had 6 abortions before she gave birth to my twin brothers. my mom's pelvic bone is small and can't hold the enlarging uterus that's why she had so many abortions. so i think i must have belonged to a large family too.

I'm sorry your family has experienced so much loss. One of my sisters had a lot of trouble conceiving. She has two sons now but for awhile she was afraid she'd never have any kids.

It would be awkward to be an only child for ten years and then suddenly a part of a big family like what happened to you. It would be kind of hard not to feel like a stranger, and hard to develop close relationships with them, I would think.

I have 2 sisters and 1 brother, all still living. The big family in my family is on my maternal grandmother's side. She was one of 13 surviving children. To this day, I've never met them all or know what happened to them. One day a few months ago, I did receive a phone call from one of the descendants of that family. The call started, "Hi, I'm your cousin!" It was fun. It's going to be more fun. Turns out some of that group was getting the whole family in touch with one another so as to have a family reunion for people to finally meet. I might go. It could be fun meeting a group of people all hoping to meet a rich relative.

That is amazing. I bet the family reunion will be quite an affair. God help whoever is organizing it.

My husband was married before and has 10 kids from preious marriages. We both come from small families, but he had a very big family. Lucky for me, the kids are all grown up, so we don't have to take care of 10 ids. LOL LOL LOL

I have 4 sisters and 3 brothers. I only have one full sibling though, I have a full brother. Although I don't consider the others half. My mom has 7 kids, and my dad has 3.

My husband's brothers and sisters are a lot older than him, too, because he was a late baby. His youngest brother is 8 years older than him and his oldest brother is 26 years older. He has a sister in between those two. I guess you could say he grew up with his neices and nephews rather than his brothers and sisters because they are so much older.

I have an average family. We are five in the family. I have one older brother and one younger brother. I felt very lonley when I was young because I don't have anyone to play with me. I'm the only girl and we always quarel with my siblings knowing they are also boys. I always wanted an elder sister. I envy those who have..It would have been nice to have a sister playmate..

It can be lonely to be the only girl and have brothers. My daughter went through that. She was the only girl and argued a lot with her two brothers.

I grew up in a, well, I guess you could say a medium sized family. I am the oldest of four. When my generation was born, there were five generations living. I consider myself very lucky, because not only did I get to see my great-great-grandmother while she was still alive, I actually lived with her, and picked up a lot of wisdoms that the normal person my age wouldn't have. We also have a young family. All the females had children at an early age. I was the oldest when I had my first child at 20. My mom had me when she was 15, and her mom had her when she was 16. This does cause problems at first, being a young inexperienced mother, but in later years it works out, because not only did I get to have a relationship with generations that most people only hear about, but the ones that are still here now are very close.

Not much of a baby anymore lol at the age of 42 now but to my mom I am still the baby and always will be.Being a big family is a blessing and a night mare at the same time.My poor parents went through mortal h-ll raising us but the memories i wouldn't change for anything.

Five boys. I am raising two myself so I can identify with what your parents must have gone through raising five! I think their generation was made of tougher stuff than I am.

I grew up in a big family too. But it is funny. On my dads side of the all of the boys have 5 or 6 children but all of the girls only have 1 or 2 children. And there were 12 of them growing up. I wonder if thats because the boys did not have to give birth to them?
