We don't always take a summer vacation, sometimes we just don't have the extra money. How about you guys, do you always plan a summer vacation? Or does money stop you from doing a vacation?

Money does stop us from going on vacation because we dont have enough of it to just splurge or waste. I would love to go on vacation but we have to travel quite far to get to any vacation destinations and I cant stand riding that long in a car it makes my rear so sore. I also dont think its very easy to pack and drive far with two children under 4. I havent been on vacation in about 3 1/2 years. The last time we went to the ocean with our daughter who was just a few months old at the time. My daughter gets motion sickness so bad so I would dread a long trip I would have to give her something to either make her sleep so she wont get sick or something to stop the nausea and I don't like giving her medication so I have avoided it so far and just plan things around her schedule when it will be best or her so she wont get sick.

We have already had our vacation for this year. We just came back from a 7 day vacation in Rarotonga (Cook Islands) where we attended my sister in laws wedding. It was beautiful and way too short LOL

I have had exactly four vacations in my entire life and that is because I never had money for vacations. I have always lived my life trying just to pay the bills every month.

We haven't had a vacation in years, not even in the summer. We cannot afford to take one with the high gas prices now anyway. We are so tight on money right now because my husband makes alot less money and the prices of everything is sky high.

Traveling has been important to me since I was a teenager and it is something that I very much need in my life. When I was 14 I went to Greece with my mum on the money that I had saved from my paper round. I let my house, took all my savings and got a working holiday visa for Australia so I could go around the world when I was 20 years old. My trip lasted for just over one year and I stayed in backpacker hostels to keep the cost as low as possible. As I have got older I have been able to go do more expensive vacations like hopping to three different islands in the Seychelles and in the Maldives. I have been able to go on a safari to see wild animals in Kenya. I take a vacation last minute or arrange it in advance. Like I booked in December for my flight to Latvia this June. If I have little money I do a cheap trip like I go a budget flight to Italy and then bused down to Croatia and when I have more money I go to some really special places. Most of all I would like to go to Peru and walk the Inca Trail. I will save up to do this but at the moment I have to just go on trips suitable for my baby son.

We wanted to take a vacation this summer, but I don't think the budget will allow us to go on a week long or more trip to visit everyone like we wanted. We'll probably take shorter weekend trips instead as we find the money. Even if a vacation means staying with relatives, the gas prices or even flying there adds up. We added up the cost of air fare, some meals out, and other little things you spend on vacation and it was an eye opener about where to go on vacation this year.

No now that my eldest is at preschool and we can only take holidays during non school term time we cant afford it, its way too expensive prices shoot up by about £200 per week just to have it in a school holiday so we dont bother.
