I am currently sitting in a hotel room waiting on hubby to return from a job interview. Later I will be going for a job interview. As I think about the hotel experience, I wonder, what is your least favorite thing about staying in a hotel? Mine would be early morning noise! Seems folks just let doors slam behind them when they exit...awakening those who are still asleep!

I hate not knowing if the bedspread or blanket is clean or what maybe on the pillows. I bring my own pillow. I did a question on hotels with a video a while back...showing how bad the cleaning standards were in even 1st rate hotels.

I probably have a couple least favorite things. I don't like the pillows and have to bring an extra one if I want to bother, or ask for extra at the desk. I also don't like the chairs - I have a hard time finding someplace comfortable to sit if I have to hang out in the room. The morning noise doesn't bother me as much since it seems we never sleep in when we're travelling. I also get bored quite easily if I have to hang out in the room too long. If I had a laptop, that would be a great way to spend time huh? myLot anywhere.

I have not slept much in a hotel, I am not much of a traveler, but yes that would bother me too, also the sterileness of the hotel, they really are not that appealing, bare walls, crappy furniture, etc.

it really depends on where I am staying. SOemtimes it's the cleanliness other times it may be wondering if the room is secure enough.

Mine is generally cleanliness issues.... I hate using bedding that you're not sure if it's been cleaned properly (especially the top bedspread - which I NEVER use!) and bathrooms that you just sort of wonder. Yuck! And I hear that the remote control holds about 90% of the germs from others who have used the room.... pretty logical if you think about it.

Yes, I hate the early morning noise too. I also do not like how a lot of the people at the front desk do not speak english. A few months ago I was staying at a Super 8 motel and I called down to the desk to ask for extra towels, the women could not understand what it was that I was needing. I had to get dressed and take one of the towels down with me to show her. I was very angry at this point because even after I showed her the towel she still could not understand that I need another one. I try to now stick with the Hampton motels.

The mini bar is ridiculously expensive. Also watching movies and have room service...geez it's so expensive too.

Why are you job hunting? Did I miss something? I dislike unsupervised, undisciplined children running amok in the fitness and spa areas, or anyplace else. I also dislike the sound of early morning baths and showers all around me.

Oh CrazyN I adore everything about a hotel stay. That is because when I am at a hotel I am away from my everyday life! LMAO it is a pleasure, and even the noise in the morning is better than the noise in my house I guarantee you that... LMAO

People who let their kids run up and down the halls or on the sidewalk outside the windows. It doesn't matter what time of day it is, it is simply RUDE for parents to allow this!!!

Other than most hotels seem to have really firm mattresses, I really don't mind staying in hotels. I have never really had a bad experience with any of the hotels that I have stayed in. The problem you mention doesn't really bother me since I am an early riser, and I have noticed that most hotel room doors are set to shut, and if you don't catch it and shut it, it will close very loudly. I have always been one to think of others around me, so I try not to let that happen.

Hotel Room - How often are the bed linens cleaned?
To be honest, it's the sheets and covers on the bed because I don't know when it was washed the last time. Strangers used the room before me and I'm pretty sure the top cover isn't washed but maybe once a week and to me, that's gross.

Hotel are nice but its so expensive. Everything you need to buy, food, drinks, etc is so costly. Might aswell get it from someplace. I dont like the sound of water turning on and off especially in the middle of the night. And yes those banging doors and load voices you hear especially when some guest are rowdy and loud.

I agree. I dont like the slamming of doors at night. But I dont like the fact that even though the sheets have been changed that so many other people have slept in that bed I mean eww!
