Dear Bill Gates

Crazy - I used to be sane until I met Bill Gates 'brain child'.

I am no longer a fan. I used to be. I used to think you and Microsoft were the best things since sliced bread. I no longer like bread. Or Microsoft, or you. I'm sure you're a genius. I know I'm not. In fact, very few people are. So if you're so smart, how come Microsoft programs and applications have more bugs than Carter has liver pills huh? How come, you couldn't design a pc program that could stop viruses from getting past our firewalls? If you were so intent on cornering the market, why leave us vulnerable to crap safety programs put out by other companies? How come every other day I have to suffer lost time while Microsoft 'updates'? Yeah, yeah, I know it's to keep up with new technologies and all that - but for crying out loud, couldn't at least ONE of those updates include a fool proof way of keeping out viruses that cost time, aggro and money to fix? Orone that fixes the built in bugs you left behind when you sold your software? But I guess you don't care anymore now that you've moved on from Microsoft. Here's an idea - make those emails I keep getting about winning the Microsoft email lottery true and spread a little of your millions around to us poor idiots who use your system and suffer the consequences. That way I can buy an Apple computer and kick your sorry excuse for 'internet rapture' to the curb! Sincerely yours, A former bread eater, and now an apple eater. P.S. Please tell me Apple doesn't use Microsoft applications and programs! PLEASE!

Dear Ms Sparksofinsanity, I was disappointed to receive your letter today in which you expressed your concern about the apparent shortcomings in Microsoft products. I can assure you that we here t Microsoft go to great lengths to ensure that our products perform to the highest specification demanded by our discerning customers in both business and private capacities. Rarely do we experience any viruses in our hermetically sealed non internet connected research facility. In fact I can guarantee that no virus has ever managed to get into a lab computer. This must be a fault at your end, your end, your end, your end, your end.......... I have asked nice Mr Jobs CEO of Apple to continue this letter. As I am suffering a terminal meltdown and am being eaten by trolls. Yo Dude Sparky one Steve Jobs callin' you all the way from Apple in Cupertino. Get down with us baby and get yourself a slammin' Apple iMac or Macbook laptop 'puter. It comes with groovy software built in. iLife 08 which covers all your photo, website, music and film requirements. You can run MS Office:Mac which has Word and Excel or Apple's own integrated software iWorks which is compatible with MS Office. Apples don't get viruses, come with wi fi and "Just Work". Smashin' Pumpkin Love Steve

Nobody will ever write a program that will keep viruses out permanently because new ones are being written all the time. Writing a software program to protect the computer against current viruses is one thing, but trying to write one to protect against viruses that do not yet exist is impossible. The main reason that Linux and Apple are rarely affected by such things is that the people who create viruses target Windows because it is used by more people.

Oh wow... were the issues you were having with your pc so bad that you have to get an entirely new system?? Apparently apple IS the way to go, but unfortunately, it's too expensive for most. It's definitely way too expensive for me. lol.

I can't get an Apple yet either, but I've seemed to have solved a lot of my problems in the past two days. I'm waiting for Bill Gates to respond to my letter and then I'll be buying Apples for everyone! LOL

welcome to my world, the mac world! congratulations for picking the right fruit, lol! i just love how you write this post, remind me of someone i know haha! anyway, i am never a fan of PC and i honestly hate how it works. call me bias but after using mac for 5 years now i have to say that the difference of it is night and day. i just wish that some sites will make theirs a mac friendly one, they should realize that mac users are getting bigger and bigger now. just love how it evolves. though of course there are some issues but it is nothing compared to what vista did. i love the commercials they are making, showing the difference of the two, haha! i am always amazed how many oldies out here move in mac world now. i remember one saying, they didnt know it is that easy. i mean the complications is gone and just as simple as abc, LOL anyway, i hope i didnt sound too much of a fan here, not my intention, just a happy user sharing my experience! takecare!

Thats right. Both the mentor and the Microsoft have been eating our pockets a lot. They could not build a full proof system and blamed the hackers for this. And not take the responsibility for blunder mistakes they do. First leave a loop hole in system and then build a spyware and sell it to you. Due to the same reason I would prefer LINUX. Its always freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

We need to rethink about Microsoft issue again. Yes, their programs have a lot of bugs and sometimes they admit it, but they served computers and computer users for a decade! Imagine if there was no Microsoft, how computers will be? We will all obliged to learn Linux or maybe solaris. I don't like Microsoft, but we all have to admit that did some great work and guided us to better operating system concepts.

I couldn't disagree more, but I won't. Microsoft didn't invent computers, and Dell and Apple have from their beginning done a far better job than Microsoft did. They just had worse PR.

I agree with you totally! I HATE IE (Internet Explorer) and use Mozilla Firefox and very rarely have any problems. Unfortunately some programs require IE and I have to use it, otherwise I wouldn't even have it on my computer! By the way, I was reading the other comments and will start looking into getting an Apple computer. Thanks to the people who had stated they were doing the same. If only everyone would, then maybe Microsoft would start getting worried and straightened up and fly right. As for Mr. Bill Gates, personally, I don't think he even gives a crap anymore, he's got his millions and as long as he has people that are willing to use his products he will continue making money. Hopefully more people will go toward Apple and eventually if enough people make the switch maybe then Mr. Gates and Mr. Jobs will awaken from their sleep and care about their customers again, like the old days. They have forgotten where they came from. Pity!!

It's gmail that really drives me to the brink of insanity! Like can it stay connected for more than a minute at a time please!!!! I keep thinking it's just my computer, but I'm beginning to wonder! LOL I used to use Mozilla all the time, but it conflicted so much with my computer configurations that I rarely use it now.

Hmmmmmph!!! I havent had any problems with Microsoft ever. I am sorry that you are going through so many problems. But i hope that you do that there are so many hackers out there are trying to mess things for people like Bill Gates. So i really believe that its not is fault. I really dont believe that he would purposly do something to the service that he created and work so hard on. Especially a system that is earrning him millions a day. I hope all works out for you. Take Care

You've been very lucky then punkin. Microsoft programs were released with built in bugs and it cost consumers big bucks to get them fixed. Now they update automatically for the most part and for free, but the system is flawed for people who use the net for many more applications than the average user.

I feel your pain and will comment where appropriate. First I have used computers since the late 70's - before Microsoft existed - and recall MS' power grab as it matured. For those who don't know, MS was never given high marks for its technical ability, where MS was genius was: * MS charged a royalty on every product designed to run on it's DOS operating system - not to mention the high cost of simply purchasing MS Pascal or Assembler * MS understood, early on, that the best way to erode WordPerfect's stranglehold on the business world is to introduce its products to college students at a cheap price. Nowhere in this description do you hear anything about their technological ability... they have always been a better marketing company then technology company. In addition to the genius, MS also deployed illegal practices including: * predatory pricing * purchasing competitors to dissolve their challenge * withholding product updates from IT professionals who dared to question their practices or products thereby directly controlling and manipulating the marketplace You probably never heard of this company but Digital Research ("DR") was the leader in those days with it's technologically advanced CPM (advanced for those days). When IBM introduced the PC no one in the industry saw the potential and it came down to two companies to deliver the OS for the PC... MS and DR. The superior software company DR simply refused to lower its cost to develop the software so ol Bill Gates got the green light. Yes DR soon realized their mistake and made pained efforts to correct them as time went on - even introducing the superior DR-DOS to compete with MS-DOS - but it was too late. The marketing juggernaut known as Microsoft was loose and, due to some of the practices mentioned above, was too liquid to be stopped. But just think how GOOD and how much further advanced the software world may be if Digital Research would have lowered its prices... On a side note, I just started a thread to teach people how to prevent or immediately eliminate the malware threat... you may want to check it out!

Hey soul - thanks for all the info. My dad used to call this kind of thing "built in obsolescence". In other words - produce a product that has built in weaknesses that will keep the consumer coming back for 'fixes' etc. Pretty soon we'll be buying our shoes one at a time and paying separately for them. LOL
