The First Week!

Well, I made it through the first week of having a newborn at home. The first couple of nights were rough because I was only feeding her what the doctor told me too. I started feeding her a little more and she actually started sleeping, amazing. So now we are falling into a nice little routine and things are getting much easier. My oldest daughter is taking things in stride and being the big helper she promised to be so things have been going well. Now its time to start waiting for the fun milestones.

Congrats on your newborn and I wish the best of health to your wholw family.Getting her into a pattern so earlier will definately help you.It is good to hear your daughter is taking an active role in this as well. But please remember these serene scenes when both your daughters want/need your attention at the same time as your mate has to go somewhere.Trust me;you will come to savour those quiet moments!

I am trying to cherish my time with just the two little ones at home before I go back to work. Financially we cannot afford for me to be out very long so I only have another week and a half before I go back. I know how fast they grow up though and I am just trying to take it all in while I can. I think she is going to be my last baby.

Awwwww, how fun and a big congrats to you and your family. I remember when mine were little, I loved babies so much that as soon as one hit a year I was ready for another, my mom kept warning me I would have a housefull of teenagers if I didnt watch it, well she was right, but that is why I think babies are so sweet, so parents can have those memories implanted in our brains so when they do not so good things as teens we dont kill them, hehe. Enjoy this time, like the country song says, your ganna miss this, and it is true. you are now living what some of us call "the good ol days". good luck and enjoy :)

Yes, the time really does fly. She looks identical to my first and its hard to believe it has only been two years and the oldest is so independent. It scares me that one day there is going to be boys calling the house and such. They are just absolutely amazing. I probably won't be having anymore babies so I definitely have to cherish the time I do have with my two girls.

My daughters doctor was big on the not feeding her more than 2 ounces in the beginning. I didn't listen to her. I am glad that you have survived your first week with a newborn and that your other daughter is being a big helper and is not jealous.

Its ridiculous. The poor baby just cried and cried they kept trying to tell me she had gas. MY BUTT....she was hungry!!! Its okay though mommy has it under control. LOL I dont know why doctors are so anal about that. When she is full she won't drink anymore.

Those first few weeks are hard arent they so im glad things are settling for you nicely. I was always told to feed on demand never did think much of only feeding every so many hours. Hope it continues to be good for you all xxx

Yea, I did that with my daughter, fed on demand that is. I was obeying the 2oz. rule and that didn't work started feeding her 3oz. and voila she SLEEPS! It is great.

Sometimes she wants to help so much it drives me crazy though. There is nothing I can do for the baby that she doesn't want to help with. I am going to guess with time that will probably wear off though. It is pretty cute right now so I will just suck it up and enjoy my time with my girls before I have to get back to work.

Yes, they do come so fast. I look at my little one and can barely see my two year old at that stage. She is such a big girl now. Its hard to believe what they do in two short years.

Congrats on the new baby! I never fed my babies according to a schedule. When they were hungry they let me know and I fed them. I looked at it this way, I don't eat according to a schedule, I eat when I'm hungry; so why should my baby have to eat according to a schedule. It's great that your daughter is helping with the new baby. I'm sure she is loving being the big sister. Best wishes!
