I am happy to say that reading is my favourite hobby? I am always buying books.I have more books than I can ever finish reading. I sleep with them on my bed at times.I can switch reading from one book to another. I have loaned a few books to people and I never got them back, so I made a promise to myself I will not lend my books out. I would rather spend money and purchase a book or books for you. Lending books is not my fancy. Apparently, people tend to forget to return books when they borrow. I take my books seriously.

I would say reading is my favorite hobby as well. I also have many more books than I can read. The thing about that is though, I am always buying more. I love our local library. It has tons of books. I have to be careful with all my books lately though, whether they are from the library or one of my own. I say this because my four month old puppy seems to like to chew on the corners of my books and magazines. It's a good thing she is a small breed of dog or all the books that I moved from the floor to the counter would be torn to shreds.

It's great to know, sun2day, that your are also a book lover. I have discovered that there are many of us here on myLot and have even played around with starting a book club for myLot members. We could share information on what we are currently reading, favorite authors, etc. Does this project appeal to you? I am currently enjoying Quicksand by Iris Johansen. It is a book in her continuing series about Eve Duncan, a phorensic sculptor who works to bring closure to the families of murdered children. Crime fiction is my favorite genre but I also like Horror and Fantasy.

I do like it when someone tells us about a book they are reading and recommends it. I write it in my little notebook to keep an eye out for it. Unfortunately I have had little to share in what I have been reading because, well, I'm not getting a whole lot of reading done. But I have shared a few I thought worthy of recommending.

Hi there, I love reading. I buy books which I am interested during grand books fair. I usually could get my favorite books with lower price during such occasion. Though I have bought lots of interesting books, there are still lots of them in the book shelves waiting for me to read. I am a slow reader and I rather enjoy reading few pages daily. It’s more interesting to read different books a day. By reading I could acquire knowledge and enhance my language skill. I totally agree with you that books will never come back to us again if we lend them to someone. So I always feel reluctant to lend my books to others as many of my books are precious collection. It’s not money matter anyway, I am just afraid I could never have them back again if they are books out of print.

Reading is definitely one of my loves, and I am always looking in secondhand bookshops, and others, for bargains on books. All of the books I have (2 bookcases, well and truly overfull!!)bought new are still in top condition. I won't fold pages, I always use a bookmark, and never leave them anywhere that they could be damaged. The only person I would lend my books to is a close friend, as I know she respects books as much, if not more (if that's possible!) than I do, and I know I would get it back in the same condition as when I leant it to her. I don't like to borrow books from a library, the condition of some really leave me shuddering.

I love reading and always have. I use the public library a lot and don't buy most of the books I read. However, I do collect books by certain authors; and I collect "old" books. My oldest one is from about 1840 and it's a collection of Sir Walter Scott. I don't loan my books, either. I remember the last one I did loan. When I finally got it back, it didn't resemble at all the book that I lent to a friend. It had coffee spilled on the front, it was dirty and the pages were turned down. I almost cried. All of my books are friends, so I treat them as friends. No more lending!

YES YES YES!!! I love love to read. I actually read 2 whole books yesterday on my day off from work. I just finished my finals from school and thought that i would reward myself....LOL!! I have really gotten my baby sister into reading now. Its good to start off at an early age. We read ten books a night and still she craves for more. As for me i love to read fiction as well as non fiction. I am a total bookworm. Since the begining of this year so far i have read 230 books. I keep a list of everything that i read. This helps me, cause sometimes i cant keep track of all of them.

You are a book worm yes, I have never read 230 in a few month, that is interesting. When you read that many books I would think you would have to keep a record. Did you start reading at an early age, that is wonderful! It is great to be able to get your baby sitter involed in reading, hats off to you girl!

I love reading. I love it when I find an author who I really enjoy and they have written a whole series of books, because once I have finished one story, I know there are lots more hours of enjoyment still to come. I have a few select friends with whom I share books. We like a lot of the same authors so we recommend books to each other, and loan books to each other. I would not lend out my books to just anyone, as I often like to read favourite books again.

I absolutely love to read. I remember learning how to read in kindergarten and wondering why I hadn't known how long before then. I, too, have more books that I could ever finish but I like them so I keep on buying them. One thing I have about my books is that I don't like dog-eared pages so I always give out a bookmark when I loan a book out and I only loan to my sister. I also don't like it when you lay a book down open faced. It damages the spine and can loosen the pages. I've go so many books now it's a little embarrassing but I just love the way they look in their shelves. I guess that's a little wierd but that's me.

It is what you like. I do not like books being dog eared either. I always think books add some elegance to your home. Do you what I look for when I enter a home? the answer is (books). Thanks for a great response.

I absolutely love to read. Every change I get to read, I stop and read. I recently received some gift cards from Borders in the USA, and I promptly went out and bought every single book on my wishlist.

i do read books. i started reading mystery novels before my teens until i got into reading motivational books because it makes my life's journey's a little better and i get to role play on what i read about it is better than fiction. if i read novels , i don't usually buy them, i borrow them but with trade books , i keep them and as much as possible not lend it out because every now and then i refer to them if the need arises.

We must have been separated at birth! LOL! I am a book addict. I have books in every room, except the bathroom. I usually have several books going at once. Like you, I take my books seriously. I hate to lend them out, because I never get them back. It makes me sad when I hear someone say, "I read an entire book this year!" Only one book? My average is 3 to 4 books per week, and I think that's slow. I would much rather spend two hours in a bookstore browsing for books or spending that time reading books instead of going to or watching a movie. And people think I'm whacked!

Well, actually I am a book lover and when I really enjoy the reading I would finish 3cm thick novel in just a whole day. LOL. But sometimes I get dry, and even when I force myself to pick up certain book, I would not be able to stare too long at the pages, and finally just surrendered and put the book back into the shelf again. Mostly I spend my money on books, second on drink or foods. I wish I owned a library or small book store. LOL.

Yes, I love to read, but I don't mind lending or even giving my books to people once I finish reading them, especially if I really like them. There are a few that I won't lend out, like my Mercedes Lackey books. I was going to be that way about the Odd Thomas series, but I lent them to my daughter and she didn't want to give them back, so I just bought duplicate copies. I didn't mind, becaue I wanted her to love them and she did. I'm not sure if writing or reading is my favorite activity. They are about equal at this point.
