I want your opinion. How soon do you think it will be possible, to take a vacation in an outerspace hotel?

Well several nations have their own plans of space exploration for the next decade. Missions back to the moon and possible missions to Mars are in the works. Then there are plans of having established space exploration and habitation goals for the 2020s to 2030s (orbital hotels, improved spacestation). Unfortunately, economic factors and societal needs may delay future projects significantly. Still both public and private sectors continue with space travel exploration.

theprogamer, Yes, the factors you mention, may slow down the advancement of space travel exploration. However, exciting things like Orbital Hotels could improve the lot of many people in the country that makes it first! Imagine the jobs surrounding the making of such an undertaking! It could very well impact a lot of economic & societal issues and needs. Thanks for your comments! Keep them coming! Please sign up as our friend on our Myspace page. We keep up to date on space travel news and we are planning the World's First Space Cruise Week in April 2009. Just around the corner! XA

For Rich Peoples, well that's not a problem as long as the Space Hotel is once established in the future in Space.., For Low/Middle and ordinary people... :( so sad... it will cost fortune just for an ticket to get there/... eh.. how much would it cost to book in the Space hotel? Let's say about $5,000 and up per day..... Probably, I the first Spacecraft would be built for that operation is for Private Usage (maybe 1-5 people on board)....

Unfortunately, I'm close to the bottom of the heap financially at the moment, so even a suborbital flight is out of the question - for now. Of course anything new tends to be expensive. Once there are a few different companies competing, and the technology is more mature, the prices should come down dramatically. The same thing happened with the airline industry. It's just a question of how long it's going to take. Of course the coming recession is likely to delay things a bit, but things should improve later. It seems to me the best plan is to make as much money as you can, and hope that ticket prices will fall to an amount you can afford before you're too old and frail to fly.

Yeah, I know... there's a lot of company competing with this space travel... As the time goes by and the Space Travel company grows the prices goes down as they compete to each other..

This probably won't happen while I am still young enough to enjoy it. I am sure they will be doing something of the sort in the years of 2020. I would love to be able to travel like they do on Star Trek, although I know that would never happen. But wouldn't it be so cool.

Hi xtraordinaryadventur, Welcome to myLot, I hope you will enjoy your time here and make some friends and money. As for your vacation in an outer space hotel, you may have to wait another 20 years or so. That is just a guess of course, it may be less than that, it may be longer. Blessings.

It wouldn't take long to realize that. But I am afraid few people could afford the fee for the vacation at the beginning.

I think it may be possible after around 50-100 years because at that time the world will be much advanced and it would be possible to spend our vacation in space during that time.

Space travel is a common thing in the modern world. Many people from the world use to travel in space in a space shuttle for their research work.Yes, it will be possible in future that vacation will be taken in an outer space hotel.

WEll.... Our technology is advancing 100 times every 100 years and probably getting faster so space cruise shouldnt be far off. we only need to be able to BUILD a "Cruise Ship" in space wich will take time....

i think is possible. Beside the high technology, we can go to space just with surfing in the internet. And we can arrive in MySpace...and maybe search some information about space..LOL :D

Its already happening right? the thing is you need at least one hundred million US dollars to afford it. There are billionaires that have been booked on Russian space travel, maybe it was not due to the global financial crisis we should have seen space tourists already. That idea is no longer far fetched maybe in 10 to 15 years space tourist would the talk of the town LOL. Cheers!

We already have the technology to go to space on vacation... An outerspace hotel, it'll depend on the kind of investment in space technologies. For now, they're cancelling the Constellation program, therefore this will be a real problem. There's also the problem that it'll be limited to the richest persons.

millions of years

Bigelow have already launched a couple of unmanned prototypes and hope to have a space hotel in orbit within the next few years. You'll need a huge pile of money to book a holiday there, at least for the first few years, but as the market develops the prices should fall. I hope I'm not too old by the time I can afford a trip into space myself.

I don't know exactly when, but I am confident it will happen sometime before we reach 2050. There are people paying like 2 million dollars or something like that, maybe more, to travel to the moon. The man that owns Virgin Mobile/Virgin Records is planning a trip. He was on the news and it is said that he is planning to take this trip in a couple of years and that a waiting list is now forming because other high paid celebrities and moguls also want to do a personal trip. I think it would definitely be awesome to be able to go to the moon just to see how it is, considering that only astronauts are the only ones that have experienced such a thing. That sure would be something!! :)
