How often do you get a haircut?

I don't do haircut often.I grow a long hair, but it doesn't grew fast.I really don't feel comfortable going to salons. When I started my college life,I finally got the guts to get a hair cut.So I went to a salon in campus. They looked very busy,I was about to step out,the barbar stopped me,he said he has an opening for me,he can cut my hair right away. He asked my to get a shampoo first. Oh,my God,that female assistant used her sharp fingernails on my head skin, that hurt! And that's not the worst! I told the barber that I last had a haircut eight weeks ago. So my hair was pretty long. But I want the same style. But he reasoned me to change it a little,"I recommend you leave it a little long on top.But we should take in the back and sides a bit more. That's more fashionable now." I was convinced and said,"Alright. You are the expert. I'm happy to have your recommendation." Then he said my hairs were quite dry, and had some split ends. They made my hair look even more frizzy. He convinced me to get a hair care by putting some conditioner or something on my hair . Guess what? The haircut was not too bad,but my hair turned to be yellow which should be black. He dyed my hair, and my hair was very dry just like hay.

Oh my.. They just wanna earn more money from u by recommending u this and that.. ANd 1 thing my fren has taught me is that, never go the a salon to style your hair, because it will only look nice and look for that just once, for that day only.. After which, u can never achieve the same effect again and u will end up with bad hair day everyday.. When i was in school, i will cut my hair once every month.. But now, i will only cut once every 3-4 months.. lOL

yea its true that they want you to buy the products they sell, actually you can get it at a cheaper price at the wholesalers. but for the styling part, i don't really agree with that, because i always go for punky and stylish hair cuts. after coming back i still have the same effect. the thing i always do is i ask the hair stylist to show and teach me the technique to style my hair and for my hair i just need hair clay and spray. and sometimes why their effect is nicer is because they use the hair dryer to blow. but, practice makes perfect when it comes to styling your own hair. :)

Ummmm I don't think that there's a barber in the world that could screw up shaving someone's head!

I never had problems with any barber at all. The barbers in my local area are awesome. I get my hair all shaved off; making myself bald at a certain barber place. I do this every at least couple months. In a while, my hair will grow out again.

i find that after about 6 weeks, my hair starts to bug me so i generally go and get a hair cut at that point. i go to a fairly cheap place so it doesnt cost a whole lot, but i like my hair fairly short, so i need to take care of it.

Hi, I always thought I was one of the only people that did not like going and getting their haircut! I have always been told by people that I am "weird" because I hate doing this. I too feel uncomfortable when I am getting a haircut. Most of the time I do not like the cut but do not want to hurt their feelings by saying so. :) cheers,

It is stories like yours that just stop me going to the hairdressers, the last few years I have just been cutting it myself because hairdressers always think that they know best and they do not!! I hate it when they mess with it and make it worse than when you went in. I cut my hair about every 8 weeks and I dye it myself too at the same time.

OMG, you must have the trauma of going to a salon now. I agree with you, some salon personnel would really recommend a lot of hair care products and procedure to milk more money from you. It's their business. Unless you are well-decided of what service you really need and only require, the trip to the salon will truly be a culture shock. I don't visit the salon that much lately. Unlike when I was still in the Philippines where, weekends were really my salon day. I would not really have a hair cut every week mostly every other month. But I have my regular hair spa and other salon pampering treathment. But now that I am here in the US where a simple hair trim cost a fortune, I only had one hair cut since May of last year. And now that you meantioned about it, I need to make an appointment with the hair salon this week for a hair cut.

I trim or cut my own hair these days. I used to have long hair and I would go get it cut once per month. I now cut my own and I trim it myself at least one time per month also. It is hard to cut the back of it sometimes though so my husband helps me out a little with that. No one ever cuts my hair right so I started doing it myself.

I get myself a haircut almost once in 2 months or may be around 50 days. I feel irritated when my hairs grow long and they fall onto my forehead. Moreover they pinch me on my back when they fall beyond my neck. And its so hot these days that i cant tolerate having long hairs. Due to long hairs i sweat a lot. So i prefer having short hairs. I have never tried any experiment on my hairs like getting them coloured or dyeing them.

I'm sorry to hear of your negative experience with a haircut. Your hair sounds so pretty! I love long hair too. I know I always get scared when someone goes to cut my hair. I have to go to nicer salons to ensure they do my hair the right way and the way I like it or I'm in trouble! (LOL) It's usually more expensive, too, unfortunately. It's worth it, though. I don't get my hair cut as often as I probably should because I just don't see the point in paying so much money just to lose a little weight off my hair. My hair usually stays healthy no matter what I do to it. I think it has a lot to do with genes and such. Your hair probably turned like hay consistency because of the chemicals that guy put in your hair when he dyed it. That's not good. Your hair should be shiny and healthy. I know you probably already know that, but I'm sure you were upset when you found out what had happened. I hope that never happens to you again! I'm glad you had a nice haircut, though. Good discussion.

i do often get haircut every month because i felt uncomfortable if i have long hair and also it is not good for going our church which is long hair. male are not allowed to have long hair in the church, if you did this you are different from all. my barber know what my favorite haircut he is expert on this field, i remember he is out of work for a couple of weeks, that's the time i have long hair because i wait him until he is back before i have haircut. he is my barber and never allowed anyone cut my hair aside him.

Long hair? Thats cool. I guess you have a very nice hair. I used to have a haircut once every month or twice in two months. I maintain a very short hair lately though I used to have a little bit long hair before when I was still young.

i maintain a clean short hair cut. this is a good example of a public servant. i feel irritated whenever i see a guy in the government with long hair. maybe, if not in the government, let's say a band member or a machinist for example, i will keep my hair long. so, to keep neat, i have my hair cut once a month...

That is their technique to charge you more depends on the services they are giving! I use to be in a salon every quarter in my Country since it is very affordable! for haircut, I will only pay $1 and for relax or shining my hair will only cost me $6. But, here, cutting my hair is already$10, I just prefer to grow it longer! and maybe will give a once a year visit to any salon!

You shouldn't have paid for the dye because you didn't ask for or approve it. Needless to say you should never go back to that salon again. I get a haircut about every 5 weeks. I ask the barber to cut it really short because I want to minimize my trips to the barber shop.

I have my hair cut every month for maintenance of the style. Sometimes if the cut is really good 5 or 6 months before i visiti the salon for trimming because i don't want to have really long hair because it makes it dry and hard to manage.

i cut my hair about every 3-4 months, the longest ever was abt 6months. i go to a salon which is considered expensive in my country because its like abt 5times more than a cheap hair cut that you can get anywhere. but what makes me go back to the same hair stylist is because of his creativity and i don't have to say much on what kind of hair cut i want, i'll just say whether i want it short that time or leave it long. and i'll leave it to the expert. always i'm satisfied with my hair. uhm.. for ur dry hair, maybe you can try some deep conditioner and leave it for 15 minutes before you wash it off, and you could also use normal conditioner every time you wash your hair.
