This is an update on my doctors appointment. Thank you to those of you who sent me encouragement about it. The doctor shaved off the 'thing' and they are running a biopsy on it. She really made lite of it but suggested that she will likely see me again concerning it and that she would refer me for minor surgery. If it turns out to be a basal cell carsinoma they will want to go in and remove more of it than she did today. But for right now, I wait.
I am feeling a lot better about it than I was yesterday when I didn't know anything at all. Thanks again, everyone.

Waiting is pretty hard. Did the doctor say what she thought it could have been? Does she think it's anything to be concerned about?
I know they don't usually say because they don't want you to freak out or get false hopes.

Thanks, katsmeow. Yes, even if it turns out to be what she suggests it might be, it is the most curable of all skin cancers. I appreciate your response.

hey makingpots,
just wanted you to know i worked in the Dermatology department of our local hospital for a few years, and what you are describing sounds really treatable.. i hope your results are ok, and try not to worry too much. It must of course be frightening for you, of course it would be - but keep your chin up and good luck xx

I am so glad that you are feeling more positive sweetheart! Of course I pray that it is not anything nasty but even if it is please let me reassure you - all of mine were removed under local anaesthetic and the scarring is minimal. Thank you for keeping us up to date and I am hoping to read soon that there is nothing nasty going on! xxx
