Do You Pray?

How has the power of prayer helped you in your life? I know not everyone prays, but I do understand the powerful impact that prayer has on people, and on life. When was the last time you prayed. Do you believe in the power of prayer, or do you think it's just a bunch of hogwash? I personally believe in prayer, it not only helps, but it calms me and makes me more content.

I believe in the power of prayer - and have many times in my life seen how prayer works. I pray daily, sometimes several times a day. I don't have a regular prayer time which I keep saying I'm going to do but through the day as I see or feel the need I will pray informally - talk with my Father and it helps. I also know that God does answer our prayers we just don't always stop and listen to His answer or the answer may not be the one we want.

I dont pray (in the standard sense) anymore and havent in well over 15 - 20 yrs BUT I do meditate which really is just another method of praying if you think about it...and yes I do believe in it...Meditation keeps me balanced, grounded and centred and helps me to find answers and/or solutions that I need...

I agree with you, raven. Meditation has the same effect on me and keeps me more of an active part of the process of praying. Does that make sense?

Yes, and the last time i prayed was this morning when i woke up. I believe in prayers, it's our way of communicating with our Heavenly Father. For many times in my life i have experienced the power of prayers and i do not doubt what it can do in my life.

Hi rockvixen, I believe that life itself is prayer. We don't need a special time, or to say certain words, or any words for that matter. If you believe in an infinite God, he already knows our every thought. Blessings.

Yes, I do. All the time, when I am not thinking about it. It helps me be self-assured and relaxed knowing that things will be okay.

I pray and talk to god everyday asking him to help me through my day with what ever I'm doing. In the past couple of months alone I've been through alot of stressful times and I just was haveing a complete break down point. I prayed asking god to help out the situation for he knows all things and we are his children and he will take care of us all we have to do is ask and we shall recieve. I really must thank him for I feel alot better now than I have in a long time he took the weight of the world off my shoulders. I would listen to the song by " Carmen ( fear not my child )" everyday and knowing that god would help me all I had to do was pray and ask for his help. I felt that it took a long time but the situation got resolved and I was so happy. So I pray every day now and he is there to see me through every situation.

I talk to my higher power everyday, even if I don't want or need something. I think praying only when you want or need something 'wears out the batteries'. If you only commune when it's for yourself, your voice eventually blends into the background noise. It's re-energizing to pray for others, to say thanks, to recognize and praise Nature for all Her graces and beauty. My kids used to say a prayer before dinner and at bedtime, but I'm ashamed to say they don't anymore(very often). My son(soupspoon911) had "The Lord's Prayer" memorized when he was 6, I don't think he grasped the whole concept, but he knew the words. I am a firm believer in the "Serenity Prayer" and I say it often. I think it got my kids through their early childhood without any beatings!! Just kidding! But seriously, it helps get me through things that are difficult and/or out of my control.

I believe in the power of prayer. I have been a pray-er for years. My prayer life have taken on more of a meditation practice style in the last decade of my life. I can't imagine life with out my meditation/prayer practice.

Yes, I believe in prayers and i pray regulary twice a day. I pray before going to sleep and it take about half an hour. I believe in prayers very much as my my prayers have always been answered and I have come out of most difficult times in life. I have seen many miracles happen and that has increased my faith in God. I believe that when i pray and i get what i wish, then its good and if things do not happen as i wish than its even better because then what God wishes that will happen and God always wishes good for us.

Prayer - This photo means to me that we are each important to God and He cares about each and every one of us. Even though we may feel alone, we are not. And we are all beautiful and noble in the sight of our Lord.
I agree with you and thank you for asking the question. I pray every day and every night. I often talk to my God in my mind because I believe personally that He cares what each of us is doing and thinking. I also believe that praying for ourselves and for others does help and He does answer our prayers in His time. I cannot say how many times prayer has helped me and others, but I know without doubt that it has. I think there is great power in prayer. And I agree that it does have a powerful impact on us and on life.

I think prayers help me alot when I have something on my mind or I feel lost or confused I pray and it always seems to make everything go away alot of people dont believe it but I do and I think it is something eveyone should do but if they dont Thats ok to as long as they are ok with that Im never ok unless I pray at least once a day or more.
