i look around and see people driving expensive cars and dressed to kill and then i see these huge homes that some people live in and i just wonder what the heck they did to get all that money and live like this? i am so sick of struggling and never having any money left after paying our bills and not being able to afford any extras. i wish i knew what it was like to not have to worry about money ever again. do you think that most people who have alot of money got it by being cutthroat and dishonest? or do you think they just got lucky?

I know exactly how you feel. There are times when I get really jealous because they all have all those beautiful things and they don't have to worry about how they are going to pay their bills or buy food. We all wish that we could live comfortable like them but it's just so hard. I am hoping that I get a good job and that at least I am able to provide some of that for my mom. I didn't pick a career that would give me a lot but I'm going to try my hardest.

well i believe a lot of these people are living beyond their means as well (have you ever watched tv shows on people in debt up to their eyeballs? for my hubby and i (we only work part time each) it is a matter of being content with what you have and shopping for the best bargains.

i have never wanted to be rich, but it would be nice to be able to live by choice and not by have to's. I think that some came by their money dishonestly, some by being lucky, and some even earned it. Oh yeah, and lot of them inherited it.

I happen to know some people who have money and they earned it through working hard in the right business. I know a guy who worked 20 hours A DAY for several years while starting up in business. His children were young and his wife did all the work at home, including mowing the grass with a baby on her back and helping him with paperwork late at night. Most people who start a business fail because they don't work at it enough or they quit too soon before they give themselves a chance to get started. My husband is building a business and has worked 6 days a week for the last 15 years. Many, many 12, 14, and 16 hour days. Things are getting better and better for us. One day I suppose someone will look at us and say, "How did they get all that? Luck? Cutthroat? Inheritance?" You can't get rich working a 40 hour a week job, that's for sure. You can be content with your lifestyle or you can decide how bad you really want it and go to work. Also, it is true, many, many people these days with lots-of-stuff don't have lots-of-money. They are scraping paycheck to paycheck too, worried about making their big mortgage payment, and paying the credit card bills, home equity loan, big car payments, big insurance premiums and still being able to have some money left to put aside for retirement or a rainy day. Most people with all the "stuff" would be bankrupt in a month or less if they lost their job. We have modest cars and some people laugh at us because they think we should be able to afford better. But it's not the stuff that makes one content. It's the peace of mind that money saved will bring. One day. P.S. One way to wear "high fashion" at yard sale prices is Ebay! There's always Ebay!
