When you cook, do you tend to put on all your food at the same time?

I started doing this for the past year now. I find that it is so much easier, cooking everything at the same time. The rice, vegetables and meat course... If I cook one at a time, I will end up being in the kitchen a little longer. what is your effective method for cooking?

Depending on what Im fixing I try to time it at the same time of getting done. But a week ago I made bacon, sauage, eggs and pancakes. As I needed the grill for several things I cook the meet first and covered it and put it in the microwave to stay warm. Then I washed the grill and did my pancakes. I kept them warm with foil over the top of them. When I was half done with the cakes I started the eggs. So not everything can be cooked at the same time. But it can be kept warm till it is all done.

Thats about what I do too, when I'm cooking breakfast foods, eggs are last because they cook fast and they won't stay hot very long. Also foil is good for everything, it will keep your foods warm, my husband calls me the foil queen, because I use it alot...I'm always buying it...when I run out, I don't know what to do..lol

I do cook everything at the same time. More than that I try to do one pan meals a lot. Stuff that I can cook all at once in a baking pan in the oven. Or I do crock pot meals all inclusive. I don't like spending time in the kitchen but I love to eat so I have had to find simple ways to cook that involve very little effort from me but taste wonderful

I'm generally pretty good at timing all the parts of my meal to be done at the same time. Sometimes i'll cook my side-dish a little too early and have to leave it with the lid on to stay hot until the meat/tofu is done.

I usually start with the dish that will take longer to cook, whenever I get at least half-way thru with cooking it, then I'll start on the other dishes. Also if, I will be using my oven or baking bread or something, I'll make sure I have it preheated first and ready to go. And most of the time everything comes out at the same time, and its still hot when I put it on the table...

I really have to agree with you, it is hard enough doing the housework as well as the laundry so putting on a meal altogether gets it out of the way and then you can concentrate on something else. I like to start cooking from early so at least me and the children can sit down at a reasonable time rather than eating late in the evening. Sometimes if i am really busy then i will cook a meal late in the day but at least you enjoy it when it is done.

Hi cream97! Yes, I do cook everything at the same time. Actually I do cook several dishes good for one week that I can put in the fridge after awhile so that when I am too lazy to cook or I am not inspired at all to cook, I will just choose on one of the dishes that I have cooked earlier, then will just reheat it. haha.. Take Care and God Bless! Happy Mylotting!

cream lately I have been doing just that, putting on everthing at the same time as I just cook for myself and the shorter time it takes for me to c ook and eat the more time I have to spend on mylotting and thats so much fun. todays its really hot so am thinking of a salad and cold milk for dinner.
