I wish all doctors would talk to their patients as if they really cared and show interest and talk in laymans terms so we can understand more... I wish they gave us all our options up front so we knew how to handle our illness or problems... The doctors I seem to deal with are so over booked with patients, they barely have time to listen to me... I always feel like I am rushed in my office visit and that they may make a mistake in diagnosing me...

- I would have to say it depends upon the person. But since I think most people mean well, I'd have to include doctors in that, and say most are in it to do good. But like with all other groups of people, some may lose something along the way, cause life is not easy.

A bit of both actually.I think all that matters is how a doc sees his patients as... a sick person whom he should cure or a scrapgoat to take money out of...:)

The profession of a doctor is great thing, but now these days in india all most every doctor wants to earn more and more money and in fact they are earning a huge money, but they are no as resposible as they should be toward their patient.

what u say is right...even there's a basic foult with our education sys. do u know how much fees a medical graduate has to pay. its in lakhs to get pg seat. and a middle class man, has to get a loan. and remember it takes aroung 10 to 12 yrs to become a md or ms, so so much of years of wasting. and the only way to make it upo is to charge exorbant fees...which is wrong nyway

i remember an incident, when i had casuality duty, a pt was admitted in medicine emergency( female pt). she desperated needed blood. and her patient's attendents didn't want to give blood, coz they we f**kers, they agreed to get blood from outside the hosp blood bank, and believe me even after 3 hrs, they didn't come...now the patient would surely die if she couldn't receive it in half an hour...so we all decided that i go and request the blood bank offocer to give one free unit of blood( coz i'm very close to blood bank and attend many blood donation camps, so everyone tereh knows me). then i ahd to request and then got a unit of blood and we put blood to that girl( she's was jus 21)...i haven't seen her from tht day, but asked my from friend who works in that unit...that she's doing well now. now i think this is an act of a doc. what we all did is nothing for money..coz noone gained by it. its jus our duty. and i really feel bad, when someone is not concerned about patient life

well, hopefully you dont take this the wrong way but my feeling on doctors is that the ones that i deal with all seem to be too quick to put you on meds, order testing and repeat visits which to me seems like a way to just keep milking money from me and my insurance company. I do realize that somethings need more attention than others but nowadays it seems like everyone is on meds for something or seeing mutliple doctors for multiple issues. I guess you could say that i dont have a trust that more steps arent being used to help prevent or cure problems by better diet or exercizes. Hopefully you do not fall into this category. and of course it could be me just being paranoid too. I am 35 and my doctor has me on three meds with no sign of this ending soon and i would be on more if he had his wishes.

My life was saved once by a doc, when I needed an urgent surgery. I have never made a bad experience with a doctor but my father has suffered by a very unprofessional treatment twice. So it depends on doctor. But actually it's a great profession.

I think most docs are just in for the money. Very hard to find a decent Doc today. You must be a very new doc.

I have had different experiences with doctors. Some I have been impressed with and others not at all. Some I know are out to suck whatever they can out of the government since I am in Canada.. it is covered by OHIP.. and others do care. I have to say overall the health system is not good.
