A lot of Hollywood movies now a days are usually remakes from Asian Movies.. Like the Ring, The Grudge, Dark Water to name a few.. The coming soon movie, My Sassy Girl starring Eliza Cuthbert is originally from South Korea with the same title.. And also the upcoming horror movie like the "a tale of two sisters" which they renamed it to The Uninvited is also from South Korea.. The Lake House is based from the South Korean movie Il Mare which starred Jun Ji-Hyun (who will have a hollywood movie soon). Even The Host is also a remake from South Korea.. The Shutter, starring Joshua Jackson is a remake with the same title from Thailand.. Even the Eye starring Jessica Alba is originally from China.. The question is which do you prefer? The remake or the original?

Actually I really like the original. But usually the original one did not show in my Country (Indonesia). Hollywood have a good management to distribute their movies around the world, so I realized that much hollywood movies remake from asian movies from you. oh Dear!

"The Man in the Iron Mask" is actually based on a 19th century book by the French author, Alexandre Dumas. The first Hollywood film of that name was made in the thirties.

They're remaking A Tale of Two Sisters?! Eugh. I was really annoyed by the remake of Ringu. It's probably my favourite Eastern movie after Hero... and if they ever remake Hero I'll be hunting someone down. Anway... I generally like to give the remakes a try. I dislike that America feels it has to have it's own versions of these wonderful movies (like they do with British comedy... eugh). However, sometimes the remakes are pretty good. I actually prefer Sam Raimi's The Grudge to the original. Generally though, they lose so much of what makes them great movies. So, to answer in short; I will prefer whichever one is a better movie.

I find a lot of the films based on Asian horror to be a lot creepier than the standard Hollywood splatter gore movies. Going for score rather than gore.

Yeah, I agree with you.. I have just watch the movie One Missed Call a remake from Japan with the same title.. The original is much creepier.. But, i was just a bit confused about the story, when i watch the remake, the story is now clear to me.. :) Thank you for the comment :)
