Saturday, they were excepting all the recycables, And they were also excepting Household Hazardous Waste collections, like common household produts found in the kitchen the basement, Bath, Garage. they can emit toxicvapers into the air in your home, and they can be harmful in your environment, if not disposed of properly. So do the City offer this in your town? It is a good thing if they do, Have a good eveing!

We have a recycling center not far from our home. We collect our recyclables until we have enough to fill my husband's truck, then take them all to the center. Unfortunately, they do not take cardboard or paper to recycle. That is thrown in with the general garbage. I bought a 'paper brick maker' in order to recycle our paper waste to be useful once again. You throw these in your fireplace and have instant fire. They burn slowly, so I feel like I am not wasting paper. Take care!

Mental...where did you find that paper brick maker? That sounds like such a great idea and I've never heard of one.

I ordered it from some mail order place. I'll find the order form and let you know in the morning... well, later today since it is already after 2:00 a.m.! I have to get to bed. Take care!

Sorry for taking so long. It took me awhile to find it. Taylor Gifts sells them. They're online and sell for $30.00. You may be able to find one cheaper. If I can find one cheaper, I'll let you know. The brick maker pays for itself in no time, though, especially if you buy those fire logs in the stores. Take care!

Our county does not do the recycling thing. they do have a small recycling center but no one is ever there to help people recycle things. It is about 3 miles up the road from us and it is not big enough to hold alot of things. I used to love to recycle aluminum cans but now we have to travel for about 50 miles just to trun them in.

It would not be worth it Steph, especially with the high price of Gas. How are you? I got 3 referrals this week. Ok, I am off the subject, lol.

I try and recycle everything that's allowed. Our little town has recycling bins up by the town hall for papers, cardboard, glass and cans. I take all recyclables (with the exception of newspapers) there. The newspapers I take to a recycling program that our local elementary school has. The school and the town hall are close to each other, so it's not like it's a hassle. When the school's recycler is filled, a truck comes and picks it up and replaces the container. Then whatever recycling money is due goes to the school and the money is used for books and other educational materials they wouldn't be able to get otherwise. Once a season the county has a recycling program for used batteries (all kinds: car, little ones, etc), paints, other toxic things, refrigerators, tires, etc. I think it's a good thing to recycle. If we don't show our kids that we have an interest in saving the earth from toxic wastes, and filling landfills with things that can be re-used, then who will?! You have a great evening too!!

They do not offer recycling in my town unfortunately. They do however offer it where I go to school. So we recycle everything we can while at school and I save some of our household items and recycle them whenever I am home and go back to school. It gets them out of the house, we don't have to worry about how we're going to get rid of them and it's not like I'm making one trip solely to recycle things. I'd prefer we'd recycle them anyway so I'll make an exception.

I have to pay for recycling with my trash disposal company...which I do. But, it only includes plastic, paper, aluminum and some glass. We had an amnesty day last week where we could throw out stuff we wouldn't normally be allowed to but, it still didn't include chemical stuff. That we will have to take to a place that accepts that kind of stuff. We have old paint from when we had our house painted that we haven't been able to dispose of yet. So, we are not fortunate enough to have a company that will take care of stuff like that! But, yes...we do recycle, at a premium! LOL!

My partner and I are both keen recyclers. Our local authority hand out bins for the recycling so we can recycle paper and card, glass, plastics and we also have a collection which can be arranged for things like old fridges which contain toxic substances.

Thanks for the BR hun. Fridges and freezers contain gases which are toxic, it is far better to get them taken away where they can be made safe and the metals recycled.

we recycle as a family, not because of the city wanting us to do so, but because i hate wasting stuff! i saw on the news the other day that one man recycles so much that he only has to put out a garbage bag every other week! i hope i can do that well some day! we have a dump for hazardous waste which is free to drop stuff off!

Yes, we do recycle. We have a small recycle center in our town. We take our plastic bags and cardboard boxes, glass etc there. We also recycle aluminum cans. We have a friend who takes them to his mother. In her community, they still pay for the aluminum. A little effort with this goes a long way.

I recycle as much as I can, we are lucky as we get a compost bin, newspaper and glass boxes and a rubbish bin provided by the council. The only thing I have to collect and take to recycling is aluminium cans.

I just heard via the local news a couple days ago, that they are thinking of asmall recycling plant or something like that where they can make products. It sounded good to me. I will try to follow up on that. They dont offer that here as yet.

Unforunately, the city where I live does not have a large recycling center. I think it is a shame because our city could really benefit. However, the local EPA does host Saturday events where you can drop off hazardous chemicals, old medications, lawn fertilizers, etc. for proper disposal. I was surprised to hear my dad say he flushed old medications down the toilet. Those poor fish in our river didn't appreciate that. Our church also sponsors a soda can recycling program. But, Peoria, IL could really use some more recycling options. Take care everyone!

Yes, the cities are getting very conscious about environmental matters. There are several recycle collection centers in our city too. I take all the recycable materials to those centers regularly.

We have a recycling program here, but it doesn't include household chemicals, for that, we have to go to the local council tip and pay for it too.

In our area, they just collect rubbish and recycling. They collect it fortnightly, but as our back lane is shared with another street that gets collected the oppsotite week to ours, we get ours collected weekly (on a Friday).
